That is an early car that were called bugs. It has a chevy 6 cyl. engine. George Armstrong ran the #35 modified in Tulsa but I think this might be before he started driving. Mabee Tony Armstrong will see this and let us know. How about the 1959 El Camino tow truck.

I just can't remember who. I will list some names if I am right let me know. Louie Gabbard, Frank Ash (I think he was #33) I am pretty sure it is not Ray Crawford but is it his brother Corky? James Eubanks was #45 but I don't know his brother Cavin's #. All I can say is help!!!!!! Ray Crawford won the modified championship in 1968. His car was yellow

Pete's last year with Del Torance was 1968. Del and Jackie built the new #1 between the 68-69 seasons. The new car that they built probably had the best group of drivers to drive it as any car in the area. The ones that can remember are: Jackie Howerton, Emmett Hahn, Shady Mcwhorter, Jim Harkness, Walt Mcwhoter, Pete York, Gary Lowman, Big Jack Wicket that are the ones that I remember. Pete Walt and Jim just drove 1 or 2 times. Emmitt won the very first NCRA race in it. There is no telling how many features were won in that car. Thee are several pictures of Jim Harkness going over the turn 3 wall and landing in the the barns in the Tulsa pictures on this site

Rear bumper is different, but the tubing work on the lower rear portion of the frame is the same.

Bumper change maybe?

I think this was 1968 and this was my brother's ride. It was his second year and he teamed up with Lonnie Woods and Jack Wickett as co-owners. They had owned supers for many years so I don't remember why they decided to build a jr. modified for George. His rookie year he had driven for our uncle, George Wilson, a #80 sedan. So this was a chance for him to continue his career. I still talk to Lonnie and his son Woody quit often. I remember that el camino and how they had everything in the back that they needed. Sure wasn't 50' foot long and 13' tall but they made it work. thanks for the pic, was a cool time in my life. Tony

Thank you Tony for identifying this car. Yes it was taken in 1968. I have a few other photos that maybe you or others from the Tulsa, Muskogee can help identify. All were taken in 1968 at Tulsa. I don't know how to post the photos on here but maybe with the help of my friend he might post them for me.
