Welcome Mat A slew of drivers from North Dakota head south on a Sunday night, including 4-time WoO Champ and Knoxville Nationals winner Donny Schatz. Schatz was in his family-owned, yellow #15 with Big Game stickers on the sideboards and LS7 Crate Motor between the frame rails. Last week's runner-up Casey Mack joins the convey south again to see if he can improve on leading the first 21 laps of last week. 17 year-old Logan Forler is also back for another week.
MIA Terry McCarl (Austin's grad party), Danny Lasoski, Scott Winters, Johnn Cressman, Clint Garner
VIP BT24 with a rare visit to Huset's for a winged show, a Little J, and Bosma24 roaming around the area.
Since this is a Quickie version of the Report, we are skipping straight to the feature. Good to see the Huset's website actually has their results up before Friday this week, as well.

A Feature Notes:
Strap in cuz this baby was a thriller and went non-stop for all 25 laps and had lapped traffic everywhere you looked. Hansen shot into the lead coming off the chalk stripe, but that wouldn't last more than a few seconds as Schatz slid him into turn three to lead lap one. He would take a huge lead in the process so all eyes were on Dobmeier and Bakker coming from their fourth row starting spots. Ahead of them, Wolfgang snagged the second spot going by the front row starters using the bottom of turn two on lap two. Forler was hanging with Dobs and Bakker as he followed them to the front, but he was utilizing the bottom.
Schatz hit lapped traffic on lap six and stayed to the bottom as his preferred line in the family-owned, Big Game Treestands J&J #15. There was a huge curb for a cushion about ¾ of the way up the track and a decent bottom, while it was completely slicked off between the two. Lap cars were running all over the track and Schatz had his hands full as the leader.
Dobmeier made his move into second on lap ten coming off the top of turn two past Wolfgang. Forler had worked his way past Bakker around the midway point, but Bakker repaid the favor by snagging the fourth position back with 11 to go. Dobmeier was really gaining ground at this point on the huge lead Schatz had put on the rest of the field – roughly a little more than a straightaway. Dobmeier had made a charge, but got stuck in traffic for a few laps, and then cleared them, and really set chase on the yellow #15.
He negated the straightaway advantage that Schatz had in just two laps by hammering the thick cushion, and was on his tailtank with six to go. Dobmeier had a chance to go high but continued to follow Schatz on the bottom for a few laps before making the winning move. That move coming off of turn four as the flagman was showing the 2-to-go signal. Clear track presented itself and Dobmeier in his Senske & Son J&J #13 and he went on to cruise to his first win of the year at the track worth $2,500 and the 38th of his career at the track. The last six laps had the fans on their feet and was a popular one as well. Schatz hung over for second with his LS7 Crate Motor ahead of Bakker, Rosenboom, and Forler who rounded out the top five. Lap Leaders: Schatz 1-22, Dobmeier 23-25.
This 'N That * How about that car count? It may not have been the best 22 cars in the track's history, but all 22 kept it straight for the feature and held their lines and that is all you can ask for with lapped traffic.
*Dobmeier was on an absolute rail with clean track on the treacherous, thick cushion. He was very determined to beat Schatz, who was looking for his first weekly win at Huset's since 1996.
*Schatz was on the microphone after with Hot Rod talking about the LS7 Engine, and also said in reference to Dobmeier, "His balls are definitely bigger than mine.. and I'm not 18 anymore in order to run like that!" Schatz also mentioned he will be back throughout the year to run that motor and to enjoy some weekly racing at one of his favorite and former regular tracks.
*Clean racing between the two North Dakota stars. There were numerous times the two could have made contact or cut each other off and neither did. That is how racing is supposed to be. And yes, I am looking at you Mr. Jason Meyers. You would have learned a few things if you would have seen this exhibition of clean driving.
*Track conditions again had two lines and even sometimes a third through the middle for Schatz. Would have liked to see the grader come out, but with the bigger car counts and already late night it was the right call not to. Bakker and Dave Lunstra deserve all the credit for the surface that has been pretty damn good the first two opening weeks.
*Huge car counts in all of the classes – almost too huge. Tons of cautions throughout the night in the fender classes actually led to the Little J and me heading back to town for some food and warmth during intermission and B Features.
* And it could have been an even longer night had both sprint features not gone non-stop. 43 consecutive green flag laps. Big ups to all of those drivers for not spinning out like the idiotic fender drivers who use each other as bank boards. Along with that, start the night at the advertised time, please . Nothing wrong with sitting around a few minutes waiting for 7 o'clock to hit before the anthem and time trials.
*The 360 class is struggling for cars, still. 12 cars for both nights, and the tire rule is as open as it has ever been. Both winners have led all 18 laps and have come from the front row.
*Next Report(s): We'll see if Rocky avoids the wrath of Mother Nature – if they do there could be another Quick Report. Same deal for Sunday at Huset's. Just don't have the time and/or effort to fill out a full one right now.
