I have been watching the schedule for the newly formed MOWA. Does anyone know if they are going to continue adding dates to this schedule? And if so, does anyone know if they are going to try to get some shows scheduled farther north, say like Farley or Dubuque, Ia? Just curious if anyone has any inside info.
thanks.

Oh, and are they going to have double file restarts? Just kidding.

LOL! See, I knew I liked you.
One more question - how many laps they run before throwing the red for re-fuel?
The greatest knowledge is to know that you know nothing
at all.

The series was designed to race at tracks within approximately 2 hours of Springfield, Illinois where there is a base of roughly 15 cars and drivers in order to provide affordable travel for both participants and fans. From what I understand, if the series ventured beyond that area it would most likely be a non points event.
Here's a Map that was on their website from the beginning showing where they wanted to race: http://midwestopenwheel.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/spi-radius1.jpg
These guys race at Jacksonville every Friday. So the series only would race on dates when Jacksonville is closed or on Saturdays/Sundays.
There are enough tracks within 2 hours of Springfield that hopefully they don't have to venture that far away to end up with 10-15 races.
I am told that there are still a couple of dates to be added to the first season schedule. That first race is Burlington should be pretty cool with a lot of the Knoxville guys coming down and the Jacksonville guys coming over.

Thanks for the info. The closest track to me would probably be burlington. We go to the quad cities to visit my sister quite often and that is about 1 hour and 45 minutes south for us. I would really like to see a race in this series, but next weekends race there won't work due to "family scheduling". I will have to re-visit some of the other track locations, maybe some are closer than i think. I live in a major sprint car dead zone and can't get my fix very easy!!!! Makes me savor my yearly pilgrimage to Knoxville in August.
thanks again for the info.

They have another date on their schedule at Burlington on September 24. That is the weekend of the Shaheen's race in Jacksonville on Friday, the MOWA event in Burlington in Saturday, and a nice IRA event at LaSalle on Sunday. I think each of those pay more than $3,000 to win, so they should be good.

Sure would be nice if the IRA and MOWA could work together for shows at Lasalle and Kankakee in IL then maybe MOWA could come to Wilmot. Imagine IRA looks at MOWA as a competitor to some of their tracks. Plus there is quite a bit of a purse difference from MOWA and IRA.

The only competitors we at MOWA and the Monster Energy Series have in the Sprint Car world wear helmets. We do not view any other sanctioning body or track that is promoting sprint car racing as anything other than a partner in accomplishing our shared mission of promoting our sport.
The folks at the IRA, Sprint Invaders and Knoxville Raceway have gone out of their way to be of assistance in helping us get this off the ground. We plan to support IRA shows at LaSalle or anywhere else within our region. We expect that you may see some co-sanctioned events in the future in the boarder areas you mention.
As for the purse difference between our shows and the IRA, we are quite aware of that difference. Another difference you might have noticed in the past is a substantially greater number of fans in the grandstands at IRA shows than at a typical sprint car race in and around Central Illinois. There is a direct correlation between the two. That is why our primary goals in the short term are: 1. Have outstanding racing at every event 2. Bring new fans to our events 3. Give the fans more than they bargained for and the best entertainment value anywhere 4. Create a financially successful event for the promoter.
If we accomplish those four goals, we would expect that we will be in a position to bring our purses in line with the IRA and Knoxville in short order. We hope that you join us in Burlington next Saturday April 23 to help us start down that path. The Burlington purse of $2,500 to win and $200 to start gives us a good chance to prove our events can be a success for the fans, drivers and promoter.
