Looking for the hometown of Rick Dunnell who drove the 27c at the Knoxville Nationls.

Bob Wilson, Bill W and Knoxville do not have it. There is a chance the name is mis-spelled in the results.

Thanks

As a stab at this, roughly 1,131 men and women have been either pre-entered or competed at the National Sprint Car Championship at Knoxville Raceway since 1976 and none of them seem to have the surname "Dunnell".

We see the only car listed as "27" in any sort for the 22nd annual deal appears to be Illinois' Edwin Grant in what was his second Non Qualifing effort (1980).

Cross-checked yearbooks, NSSN and the obvious Knoxville Historic records and all show the same thing, this "Dunnell" you seek is perhaps a typo...

IT might be Rick Pennel from New Berlin IL. Seems like he drove something other than his 18 for a while

I have Pennel entered in 1983 in the 18P, so maybe it was him...never knew Grant to have a second car...the 27c failed to get a time in 1982...

ed grant was there in 1980 and the car was blue and white i think i rember talking to him. wasnt this the same year dub may hung his car in the building on the back stretch? my memory was a little foggy with the schlitz keg beer they sold in the grand stands. Best bet would however be to post a photo of the 27c and ask if anyone knows the driver/s of this car good luck !
