Is the audio still free on this site and the video is paid subscription or are they now charging for the audio? They require re-registration and I aborted my registration when it asked for billing information.

Audio is free as usual - but you have to RE-register ... due to the new/re-furbed site.

Why do they need billing information and require registration for a free audio broadcast?

Just a guess but maybe so they can show numbers to sponsors?

I just signed up with Hulu because I wanted to watch an age restricted movie so I had to register to prove my age. They only asked for name, location, age and email address. It's easier to register for thousands of free movies and television shows than it is to listen to a dirt track race.

Too bad some folks don't have to register on DV to prove a minimum IQ ... seems like there's more than the usual idiots in chat...

Minimum IQ? I use a computer all day at work so I think I've got that part of it covered better than most. Does building computers and programming websites for 15 years on the side give me a few extra IQ points?
The registration process on DV flagged me and would not allow me to proceed because I didn't enter billing information, address, phone, etc. I thought that was over the top for free audio, streaming radio on the web doesn't require registration or billing information. The only thing I can imagine that providing that info could accomplish is that they can make it available.
After I read your post I had a change of heart and thought I'd try again. Unfortunately, when I went to the DV site my browser timed out and I got a "server not found" message.
This all seems to be too convoluted of a process just to listen to an internet radio broadcast of a dirt track race. Just my take on the deal.

Billing info? I think that DV could have worded the questions differently, but what are they going to bill? You do not enter a Credit Card number that can be leveraged against your purchases when you sign up - you're merely registering to listen, which is free.
I signed up immediately when I got the DV email advising me of the new site, had no problems joining or listening to subsequent broadcasts. So I know that it does work.....and DV was even kind enough to respond via email when I had a question when the site first came up....

Stan - judging from the amount of idiots in the chat room during the races each night there have been folks with a lot less brainpower than you who have successfully registered. Sometimes ya just gotta wonder how they are able to turn on a computer - much less use one....
Try again - and if you were trying to go to dirtvision.com it may have timed out due to the DNS issue they were having -- but the dirtvision.com URL/domain name is working here now (as of today) whereas previously, since the changeover, only the "64.etc...." raw IP address would connect. Good to see things are getting back to somewhat normal with DV. Now if they can fix the racenotes and give the chat room mods the banhammer ability a lot more folks will be happy.

I think it would be safer to do it before hand so when the next race is on you dont have to bother with all the sign up bs and getting server not found errors when thousands are streaming from the site.
