The show in Hanford was another lost opportunity. Again, The show ran late with endless Modified restarts, you pay $35 to see ASCS and best in the West and by the time the Sprint A Main came along the track was trash and 10-20% fans had left because of 10:45 starting and the cold and another 30-40% of fans were frustrated by endless delays. Do you think they had a positive race experience and can't wait for next race. I think not. The track developed the same holes that have plagued it in recent years and it turned out to be a survival contest. When have you seen racers the caliber of Shane and Bud flip while just driving around the track by themselves. It's been said many times, but the promoters just don't listen, run the Sprint Car A feature before the other divisions, do you really think anyone wanted to pay $35 dollars to see a bunch of local modified cars run (I know you need money from back gate but). Also set real no BS time limits on C's B's and A's for support divisions. More racing less waiting for racing, (Watsonville is good example of how to get it done) Other issues, PA system, portable Tulare scoreboard, the Jack in the Box infield announcer, etc etc What do you think?

Last night was cold and I would have to agree that running the sprint cars first would have been a wise decision. Also you could not understand the infield announcer all night long. I am glad to see this track back in action and will support it in the future. Good luck

i am there for the racing so to say I'm upset it ran late because of the racing is confusing to me ? the mods are there to race just like the sprints are and put on a good show, and i love racing so why would i want a good thing to end early ? ad another class and lets stay all night ;-) as for the track ruts could happen at any dirt track at any time and makes for great entertainment it separates the men from the boys and has always been part of dirt racing regardless of the class racing a rough track now and then has and always will be part of dirt racing and drivers know this. yes it was cold but not as cold as ocean gets or as cold as baylands used to get or as cold as some race track in Alaska, getting cold this time of year is part of it deal with it or stay home u know before u go its going to be cold. i see drivers the calibre of Shane flip by them selfs on smooth tracks flipping is part of it and is going to happen. place limits on the races are u nuts im there FOR the races and want to see every lap.and man that pa system was irritating as hell, sounds like u would be better off spending your $ on a chick flick or a football game. i was not impressed with the ascs thy got there ass whooped and by only a handful of our local drivers how bad would that ass whoop-in have been if R DAY-J ALLARD-E SUGS-B K-P MURPHY-J STATLER-B FURR-B MCMAHAN-S GOLOBIC-J SANDERS had shown up, and this is just a small list of the many talented locals that could have been there yes the ascs guys where lucky to be in those mains at all lol

First. We dealt with a ton o weather and had to pump water for weeks. Mods are a big part of our program. So I won't apologize for adding them. I will apologize for the rough track conditions. As for a missed opportunity. We had glitches, but we started over a month ahead of time so we could have ASCS here. And I'm glad we did. If you are a true race fan you would appreciate how hard it was to get ready for the night and know how much I appreciate everyone that supports dirt racing. Hope we get a mulligan. Thanks everyone!

I was there from Thursday on, watching Scott and Steve Feriera working hard to prepare the track. It could happen to any track. I'm not crazy about the modifieds, but I understand why they have them. It was cold, though! That's what happens when you race in the Winter wink

I plan on being there for the Outlaws and King of the West shows.

It's good to see Kings back on the map. I was at the Cotton Classic last year and there for this ASCS show and I still haven't been disappointed. Ruts are part of sprint car racing. If you want a smooth and perfect race track maybe you should go watch Nascrap. Who else in California dared to put a race on their schedule in February? No one other than Kings and Tulare. How about you say thanks for getting the race season started off a little earlier than normal. And I do agree that it was a sad showing by the ASCS regulars. Although there aren't that many regulars. Only thing I was disappointed about was the sprint car count.

Its funny how many people think everything should be catered around sprint cars...how many times last year did the GSC or Chico have less than 20 sprint cars??? I WOULD SAY 90% OF THE TIME! If the sprint cars have a yellow flag marathon would you say cut their laps?? Of course you wouldnt...heres something to think about...EVERYONE PAYS THE SAME AT THE PIT GATE! So why should every other class get their laps cut? If time is running late you always see the sprint cars run a full main while they cut laps on other classes. The days of the sprint cars being the main show are gone for the most part...If you keep crapping on the support classes you wont have to worry about them because you wont have anyone show up...then you can be happy to watch your 15-20 sprint cars and that way you can be home at 9 oclock...Smile

about the car count. since you had to have a fully legal ASCS engine to run this national event. that may have been a factor in what local cars were there as the majority of cars in the area are open 360's. the ASCS is trying to enlarge its foot print in the area, so keep that in mind.

I really enjoyed the night's racing. I didn't like the fact that a few cars flipped but that's part of racin'. Having multiple modified B mains was...odd, but mostly enjoyable. I was impressed with the modified car count, but worry how far that'll drop when the rest of the tracks open up. I couldn't honestly tell ya how many were out of towner's or regulars. Ya the PA system sucked, but it'll get fixed. My largest concern is the curfew. I didn't mind staying a bit late but I thought there was a county curfew on track noise. Hopefully that's now defunct? Watchin' Tommy climb from last B transfer to third was fantastic to watch.

i have been going to races for 50 years that been sead, u also say 20% of the fans left because of the 10;45 start time ? what actually happens after the mod main the family members involved with the mods head for the pits to help load up u see people leave there seats but u don't see cars leave the parking lots, very few people leave the track.Tommy Tarlton is a bad ass behind the wheel, and it was a looooooong drive home got home 5:30 in the morning but it was worth it great night of racing, thanks to the promoters and crew of kings speedway for keeping it alive and well

Thanks to Woodhouse and Faria for putting on that show. I for one raelly enjoyed it. I like Mods especially at Ventura so liked the show they put on. Ruts are endemic to dirt and are part of dirt racing. I have pencilled in the KOTW shows at Kings and Tulare, also Santa Maria and might even get up to Watsonvillethis year.

Norm Bogan introduced me to the World Famous Gary Costa whose writing I ahave enjoyed for years.
