If someone can shed a little light it would be greatly appereciated. First I would like to say it is nice to see a large group of OK tracks trying to get on a similar type of rules. Heres a few questions.

1.With a track going to USRAsanction, does this mean that the track rules are the same as USRA, or does that mean if you (want to run for USRA points you must follow their rules) , or will there be normal track rules for non member cars?

2. Are the tracks here in OK going to allow Hoosiers or AR's or both. It would be nice to know more than a week before we start practicing.

3. Are we really going to allow a 100.00 shock claim with USRA? The claim rule has never worked to police anything at any track I have raced at. It is usually used with malicious intent, not to level the playing field like it should.

4. Why cant tracks make a rule that at the end of each year lets say Nov. 1 the track will have a rules meeting. Dec. the 1st the rules will be posted and there will be no changes until after Nov. 1 the next year. This deal of waiting till late Jan and Feb each year to make rule changes makes no sense to me at all. I am not a track owner nor would I want to be one, but its common sense to get these rules out as soon as you can and stick to them for a year at a time.

It would help car counts if more cars can be ready for the 1st points race. Not be scrambling to get cars and engines compliant in one month or less because of last minute rules changes or new sanctioning series.

If USRA is going to have claim rules on components of the car, that are by letter of the rules legal, then I am not interested in being involved. I am curious how other Drivers and Owners feel.

To answer your questions. (1) The rules are the same whether you are licensed or non licensed. (2) USRA does not utilize any tire other than American Racer KK704 NO DIRT TIRE (3) YES. I'm not crazy about selling a shock for a $100 bucks either but where is the line in the sand? We need one don't we? (4) Age old question for which there is never an answer for. Usually by the time the season ends these guys don't even want to think about it for a few months especially in the "door" car classes and what really does change anyway? (5) How many of you guys have insurance to cover you while racing? Look at your policy closely. In 2001 I spent 11 days in ICU in Vernon, NY after putting one out of the ballpark. Just under $90,000 bucks. Had insurance to cover. When you sign in at a given racetrack and think that they have insurance to cover that type of injury you had better guess again. Most policies cover about $5,000 that will pay to get you butt into a room and thats about it. Those Tylenols they give you at the hospital are about $50 a piece. I can't stress it enough insurance is a big deal check it out before its after the fact. Maybe I have a biased opinion but the USRA actually has a good rules package. The Lanny Edwards and NCRA packages are antiquated they are both intentionally designed for cars to be on an island (only legal at their facilities). With the USRA package you know that you can go to almost any track in the area and know EXACTLY what the rules are. Modifieds were once that way but that is a whole other story. Even the IMCA is somewhat out of touch with reality. For you guys that think their motors are cheaper are way out of touch. When you watch Daytona here in a couple of weeks and see the telemetry of your favorite drivers car and it says 8700RPM. Remind yourself they run flat tappet motors.

Same shock Claim as USMTS has done for that last couple of years:

USMTS RULE

19.5 Claiming driver must present cash to official overseeing the claim area at the time the driver declares intention to claim. The cash price of the claim shall be one-hundred dollars ($100) each for shocks or two-hundred fifty dollars ($250) for MSD ignition boxes. Drivers claiming shocks may claim one (1) or more shocks during a single claim.

Well, USRA doesn't sanction sprints but I get you, you have a mod.

It's certainly your choice to go down the road and race. If you can get those 20 races in though, it's almost foolish not to run for points. But if you can't or don't want to, that's your choice.

even if you just 5-6 races Mike......wouldn't you rather support the tracks that are adhering to a rulebook - rather than run open ended at the track that just dont give a flying frisbee?

Mike - you're the man - I've always liked ya alot....but man thats a rather weak reason. If that is the only prob you have.......20 bucks to support what seems to be the right thing (you didnt bring up any other probs with it lol)........COME ON MAN!!!

Look forward to see ya at some open wheel shows. ASCS2 will be with ASCS Sooner region at Lawton in May. Lookin forward to it Smile
