2011 Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series schedule finalized

By Gary Thomas

Rio Vista, CA – December 29, 2010…An updated Golden State King of the West Sprints schedule has been released and features a pair of tracks added in to the version that was announced a few weeks ago.

With the new year almost upon us the final copy of the 2011 schedule shows 27 point races at 15 different tracks.

The Golden State King of the West tour will bring Winged 410 Sprint Car racing back to the Reno Fernley Raceway in 2011, with a double header of action set for Saturday and Sunday September 17 and 18.

Located in Fernley, Nevada the most recent Winged 410 events held at the 3/8 mile clay oval were in 2004 and 2006, which were captured by Santa Cruz, CA’s Kevin Pylant and Chico’s Jonathan Allard respectively.

In addition to the newly added Reno Fernley event, the series will also be returning to the always hooked up and racy Petaluma Speedway on Saturday July 30. Last season’s Golden State Sprint Car events were swept by Allard, who led every lap of the main event during both races at the Sonoma Marin County Fairgrounds facility.

The previously announced KWS date at Chowchilla Speedway also moves to Saturday October 1 on the schedule.

The season-opener for the Golden State King of the West Sprints, as announced, will be held at the Antioch Speedway on Saturday April 9, with the season-finale being the annual “Cotton Classic” at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA on October 15.

I noticed Willamette Speedway on the way to Dirt Cup was dropped. I would love to see Grays Harbor take the date.

Good to see Petaluma schedule the 410s again. The place is always fast.

Oh Yeah!!! Glad to see Fernley back up and running! Since it's literally in my backyard, and no muffler rules or curfew? SWEET!
