Well Stan, I will write some questions to try and jump start some conversations.
What size track do people prefer and why? Do you like the speed of the big half-miles or prefer the close actions on the 1/4 mile tracks? Post if you are a driver or fan.
Chad Patterson
I'll post a couple more questions. I'll check back later today or tomorrow to answer my own questions.

Same answer I gave over on the Hosehead's board. It's all better than a day spent in the office.
Seriously, I enjoy the unique characteristics of the various size tracks. A season isn't complete without a trip to a big fast half mile like Arlington or Jackson or some bullring racing at someplace like Kopellah or Princeton. I also enjoy watching races at the 3/8 mile tracks like Cedar Lake and Rice Lake.

The smaller the better in my opinion, especially if it is a wide track ... But if there are at least two grooves, and with a nicely inverted field, most any track, just so it is smooth and raceable ... tom h.

I am with you Stan, I like all types of race tracks. I like the speed that 1/2 miles give. There is something about watching a car go over 100 MPH whether it be a sprint car or stock car. At those speeds crazy stuff can happen. Making moves at those speeds separates the men from the boys. Short tracks are fun too because of all the action they bring. Overall if I had to choose I really like Cedar Lake because it is small enough to provide great action but it is big enough to provide higher speeds.
It's all good though.

I like variety. I want to see racing on tracks that range in size from 1/4 to 1/2 mile as long as they are dirt tracks. Each kind of track can provide some very entertaining racing regardless of size. Then amongst the size options you can throw in type of surface and banking in the corners. All those factors make for variety.

My favorites are the Dirt Miles. Silver Crown cars at DuQuoin, Springfield or the Indy Fair are my must see events.
Also like the variety that we have to chose from - 1/2, 1/4, 3/8, 5/16, paperclips, sweepers, flat, high-banked - it's all good as long as it's DIRT!
