RaceFansTV makes publicly available the thousands of hours of motorsport racing video that was broadcast on TV at one time or another - but has been locked away in warehouses in most cases since the original broadcast (locked away in some cases for decades). We hope you enjoy watching these great videos and sharing the experience with friends as much as the RaceFansTV Team has enjoyed building the website and acquiring the content.
Some of the races with Dan Gurney, John Surtees, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Sir Jackie Stewart, Buddy Baker, Fangio, Senna, or Sir Sterling Moss are just spectacular - arguably more fascinating than any current racing. The lack of safety only 20 or 30 years ago is increadible to believe - but it is obvious these heroes risked their lives pursuing what they loved.
RaceFansTV was created in honor of the hundreds of thousands of people who have devoted their lives to motorsports, as well as the millions who remain impassioned by the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, and the constant rush of competition.
This dedication implies RaceFansTV is probably for you. Fellow race fans have made this website a reality through their frequent contributions and the growth in our membership.
The truth is that RaceFansTV is for all of us who love the thrill and spectacle that is motorsport. To help maintain the rich legacy of those who have come before us in the motorsport world - and those who will follow - we must invest in the promotion of motorsport racing in all its forms, at all levels, and in all countries such that the experience for the younger generations is compelling enough that they follow in our footsteps. RaceFansTV can be more engaging than a video game if we each contribute in an energetic and respectful manner. With your help, RaceFansTV can be the primary destination for Race Fans of all types to be entertained and obtain greater knowledge in an engaging, interactive, and family-friendly way.
We will achieve this through our highly collaborative environment where members, suppliers, sponsors, and associates interact freely to maintain the most comprehensive source of knowledge and video content in the motorsport world. We will help aspiring journalists to get their articles published and we will help those, who have accumulated a lifetime of knowledge, share their stories such that the rest of us can satiate our curiosity for vehicles actively involved in competition.
The incredible diversity in motorsport attracts people of all types and for many reasons. Not everyone is passionate about each class of racing, but for the classes that interest you, we can work together to assemble some of the best content available anywhere in the world.
Thank you for visiting and showing interest in learning more about our community. The frequency of visits from our members suggests they are having a pretty good time at RaceFansTV. We welcome you and hope we can both exceed your expectations and anticipate your needs for information and entertainment. We also hope you will be an active contributor.
RaceFansTV maintains various Channels of video programming that are organized by similar types of racing classes. Within these Channels, we broadcast related content 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Our programming usually consists of original TV programming of a race in nearly its entirety or season highlights, rather than short clips from a race. While part of the excitement of watching a race is wondering who will win (you could certainly find out who won a race we are broadcasting without having to watch the entire race), we believe most enthusiasts appreciate the many other aspects of a real race, and therefore, you will still find these historic races of great interest.
Visitors to our site and registered (but free) Members, or anyone who has not signed in to RaceFansTV, will see the race in a modest sized window and with modest video quality. Subscribers to RaceFansTV can watch the video in TV Quality and in full-screen if they desire. Visitors and Free Members are only allowed to watch the programmed video when it is scheduled, but Subscribers can watch it when scheduled or at any time during the 24 hour period after the video was originally scheduled to begin.
Subscribers can also pause, restart, or scroll backward or forward within a playing video. And, Subscribers will have significantly less advertising displayed on the video player during broadcasts.
Watching TV Quality video on RaceFansTV costs less than a penny per minute, so we hope you will Subscribe. However, you should know that in some cases the quality of the video RaceFansTV received from the copyright owner was poor to begin with, so the quality we broadcast for Subscribers may be very similar to the lower quality version.
In addition to the primary Channels, RaceFansTV maintains two Video on Demand channels where Subscribers can schedule videos from our extensive library to play when it is convenient to them. These Video on Demand channels may be watched by any visitor to our site. Subscribers can request 3 videos per month for FREE on one of these channels, afterwhich there is a nominal charge to schedule additional programs on the Video on Demand channels. If for example, a Subscriber wants to watch the 1961 Indianapolis 500 but other videos are currently playing on both Video on Demand Channels, then the Subscriber will be able to schedule this race at the next available time slot, or anytime during the coming 14 day period - that is both available and convenient to them.
Members and Subscribers can order Immediate Private Viewing of a video in our exclusive library by paying a fee and there will be no advertising shown during this private broadcast and the broadcast will be in TV Quality.
RaceFansTV believes in Copyright protection and the rights of Copyright owners to generate benefits from their investments of time and money in creating original content for the enjoyment of others. All of the video we broadcast on our Channels is licensed under contract with the Copyright owner and we pay them for you to be able to watch, or we have received the content via a Creative Commons license.
