I hadn't seen anyone talking about the race, but since this is a 410 show again, does anyone think this will help or hurt car count? Anyone heard of any drivers planning on hitting this one? The show is this coming Saturday and I haven't really heard to much about it. It used to be a big deal and almost has become "just another race." Hopefully the former glory can be restored.

I really hate it when the middle schools let their ankle biters out early!

I haven't heard of anyone from elsewhere coming, the AllStars are in Ohio and I believe the Knoxville boys will probably go to the WoO shows.

There will definitely be Knoxville representation, both 410 and 360...
$2500 to win both Friday at J-ville and Sat. at Spoon River, plus the bonus to win both...and the open tire rule, as well as the 360 bonuses help! Thanks to Manny and Bobby Hawks...

One thing I've never understood is why a 360 finishing say 6th could potentially win more money than a 410 finishing 4th or 5th. I know it is to encourage the smaller engines to race, but doesn't seem quite right for the big engine sprints to win less money for finishing in the same spot or even higher.

Jacksonville and Farmington need to go to a spec head 360 class, lower the cost of running the car, increase the car counts, fan attendance will rise and then raise the purse
These cars don't travel to other 410 shows anymore...

Where can I find information on this race at? Spoon River's website has it as midgets and late models, but nothing about sprints. Any info would be greatly appreciated as we would be interested in running if it is a 410 event again.

I would assume the payout for spoon is the same. This is all I could
find which is why I came here to get more inside info of possible
drivers etc. Haven't been in a few years and trying to decide between
spoon or haubstadt.
From 4m:
Knowles 410 Winged Sprints and Midgets plus UMP Modifieds and UMP Pro Late Models will be this Sat Sept 18
Adults Grandstand 20 ---------- All Pit Passes 30
Gates open at 4 -------- Race by 7
From Jacksonville Speedway page:
Herb Barlow Memorial
September 17 will be the Herb Barlow Memorial featuring $2,500 to win
Winged Sprints along with POWRi Midgets and Micros. This event is
being held in conjunction with the Tom Knowles Memorial at Spoon River
Speedway the following night featuring Winged Sprints and POWRi Midgets.
In addition to the $2,500 winner’s share at each track, a $1,000 bonus
will be paid to any driver who can win both events.
A 360 bonus will be paid at both tracks awarding the top finishing
360 a $150 bonus to finish in the top 5, $100 bonus for position 6-10 or
a $50 bonus for positions 11-18. The second highest 360 will receive a
$100 bonus to finish in the top 10, or a $50 bonus to finish 11-18. The
third highest 360 will receive a $50 bonus.
The POWRI midgets will bring their usual contingent of National
Midgets as their point season draws near a close with names like Loyet,
Kuhn, Brown, Daum and Knepper battling at the top of the standings. The
midgets always put on a great show at Jacksonville and this event should
be no exception.
Grandstand Admission is $20 for Adults and Pit Passes are $30.
Sprints must run either a Hoosier 15 or 25 or Goodyear 100, 200 or 300 on the Right Rear.
Full Payout for Herb Barlow Memorial Sprint Cars:
1. $2,500 2. $1,500 3. $1,000 4. $800 5. $700 6. $600 7. $500 8.
$400 9. $350 10. $300 11-14 $250 15-18 $225. $100 to
non-qualifiers.----
I would assume the payout for spoon is the same. This is all I could find which is why I came here to get more inside info of possible drivers etc. Haven't been in a few years and trying to decide between spoon or haubstadt.
