ASCS Canyon Region Ready for Hank Arnold Memorial at USA Raceway!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 30, 2010) – With the worst of the Arizona desert heat presumably in the books, the wingless forces of the American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region return to action for a pair of nights this weekend at Tucson's USA Raceway.

The ASCS Canyon Region takes to the 3/8-mile USA Raceway clay oval for the annual Hank Arnold Memorial, which includes two full nights of competition on Saturday and Sunday.

Leading the way into the weekend is Buckeye's Charles Davis, Jr., who is vying for a second consecutive series championship after winning five of the series initial ten feature events of the year.

Davis carries a 142-point advantage into the weekend over two-time series champion Jeremy Sherman, who holds a slight advantage over the likes of Mike Martin, R.J. Johnson and Josh Pelkey in a tight battle for second in points.

The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Canyon points includes Andrew Reinbold, Ronnie Clark, Dalten Gabbard, Brian Hosford and Justin Quinn.

Rick Ziehl is the defending Hank Arnold Memorial after topping the first edition of the event held at USA Raceway last September. The previous year, Andrew Reinbold snapped a streak of four Jeremy Sherman wins in the Arnold Memorial by topping the final Arnold event at Manzanita.

After a six week break from action wingless sprint car racers and fans alike will get a double dose of action as we celebrate Hank Arnold. Arnold, a legendary racer as well as a master craftsman, was instrumental in bringing the future of open wheel racing full circle. He won more than 160 main events, held 17 track records and built cars with names like the "Twister" and "Little Stinker."

USA Raceway will return to action this Labor Day weekend for a two day racing spectacular with the return of the ASCS Wingless Sprint Cars. The Sprint Cars will be joined by the X-Mods, Factory Stocks, Modified Midgets and Southwest Modlites. The racing excitement begins when general admission tickets go on sale at 4pm for only $15, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm. Suite Access Passes will allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway's VIP Suite. Enjoy the races in luxury for only $30!

There will be an opportunity for race fans to get a preview of the Hank Arnold Memorial racers at an open practice slated for September 3rd. The festivities will kick off at 6:00pm with grandstand admission free for all those who want a sneak preview.
