What are some tracks that do webcasting? I was unaware until last week that Ventura has a live feed of their weekly program. It got me thinking if there are any other tracks some of you may know of that offer the same thing. Thanks in advance.

Knoxvilles site you have to pay for. The Ventura site is free and they even have recorded shows that you can view for free. No membership required. Once you enter the Ventura website, look to the top left, and you will see a link to go to the broadcast.
Keep the thoughts coming, pay site or not, just curious to expand more racing options......

The audio from Knoxville is free. The live video is like $10. Hoseheads radio is found on Knoxville's site.

USAC provides live video from time to time as well as audio and it's free.

I checked out Ventura's web broadcast and it ROCKS just like the little track by the ocean does!
Many many tracks could take a lesson from promoter Jim Naylor! He is forward thinking, and after watching their show on the internet, it makes me want to go and see Ventura live and in person (again), even if I do live 3,000 miles away on the East Coast.
Check it out Saturday night at http://www.venturaraceway.com/live.html

There is no doubt that live webcasting is a fantastic tool for racefans, and brings added exposure to the tracks. I believe you will see more of this in the near future, but as always it comes down to money. Here are a couple of factors to consider:
- The track needs a solid internet connection, whether hard-wired or airtime card for this to work. Not possible at all tracks. Variable costs involved here.
- You need someone to operate the camera, and a 2nd person to monitor the feed. You also need some backend help (usually a server or website that users login to to watch). Someone has to cover these costs.
- Ultimately the racetrack has to agree to allow this. Some promoters feel live video keeps people out of the seats. I think this is a non-issue, as racefans are going to the racetrack if possible, but I see their point. Maybe a blackout within a 200 mile radius.
At some point, tracks and sanctioning bodies will have to charge for this. I think $10 is a fair price for the entire night of racing if the feed is good.
What I think is more viable is an on-demand download of the entire event, edited to remove the downtime, within 24 hours or so of the race. This way your not worrying promoters with live video, you can charge less, say $3.99 per event, and once you have the download you can watch it anytime, pause it, or burn it to a DVD.
The key is to have this available within a day or so of the races. How cool would it be to be able watch all the big races from the weekend, say by Monday Night?
Thoughts?

I think there should be a charge for live video of major races. Otherwise the events will become a
"studio sport," and we don't want that.

outlaws have live audio all races and pay video on some. I have been watching some of the usaclive stuff and kokomo now as i just found out. I think it is great. some of the feeds and brodcasting are great some are not, probably why many are free at this time. I would expect that when the bugs are worked out a fee will aply. i think maybe 5 bucks max for regular shows. 10 or more for specials. and this wont keep me from the track as I only look online if there isn,t a decent races withen a couple hour drive. gotta go feature up

high vista touched on an important point in his list. That just sounds like a recipe for low attendance on the local level
