I wasn't there and don't have a dog in this fight but there is more than one way to look at this. In these economic times where tracks are struggling to put fans in the seats and cars on the track what were they supposed to do, say no you can't race or make an exception and put one more car on the track? Rules such as this one are at the discretion of the track. If someone else is late for TT two weeks from now and they say no, you can't race then you've got something to b*tch about. As it stands now if I would have been a fan in the stands I'd have been happy that all the cars present were able to race.

This is one of those glass half empty vs glass half full issues. If your glass is half full none of this petty sh*t will ever bother you again. Try it, I think you'll lead a much happier life. wink

who says you can't race if you don't TT? at most tracks you just have to start scratch. is k-ville different?

Heard about the officials mistakes in the world cup?

Or the blown calls in the NFL?

Or the MLB umpire that blew an obvious call at first base?

Nobody is perfect.

Yes, I owned a race car (not a $70,000 one but was spending what was a lot of money to me on it) and had bad calls made by promoters. It happens. Telling fans the people who run the track are crooked will not help you. When they stop having fun or quit coming cause they think calls are always made to favor certain teams where are you going to race your $70,000 car at?

so you are saying a crooked race track is better than no race track? nice.

How many tracks have time trials, interview the quick time winner, the 410 hard charger winner, the 360 hard charger winner, sing the national anthem and push off the first 360 heat only to put them back in the pits so a driver can come out and get his time trial because he missed it.

Knoxville is the only one that I can think of.

No, he wasn't ready in the two minute alloted time. The track used the excuse that he was and they weren't ready, that's crap. The driver didn't even get in the car until the National Anthem had started and they pushed him to the staging area while the National Anthem was about done.

What is the time trail rule? Did Austin get an unfair advantage? I honestly don't remember ANY 360's being pushed off before Austin went out but who knows I'm getting old. Why are we also complaining about where someone parks in the pits or where they hell they stand...grow up! I swear some of you would complain about not having anything to complain about. Good thing Terry's back or else you wouldn't have someone to "root against" Doesn't that make better racing anyways. I got a little pissed off when this couch potato behind me kept yelling GO HOME TMAC... or complained about every damn thing or tried to find something to complain about Saturday night. I have my favorites and have guys that I'd rather not see win but I swear some just come to complain. Love em or hate em ...the more cars the merrier!!! Be thankful we're not looking at 10 -15 car classes. Go thank that driver and owner you HATE for fielding another sprint car so you can go watch a sprint car race. Go Thank that driver you hate for putting on a good show and risking his life for your entertainment. ...back to my questions... Who got penalized the week before for doing the same thing? And you too have a good day Short 1988.

I'm saying nobody is perfect.

Maybe they didn't think Austin would be able to time and were not watching the clock and when he was ready assumed 2 min had not passed? I have not seen the one post here yet that I've been expecting, someone who says they have a scanner and heard the track officials say to give him a TT no longer how long it had been.

I've seen others go out after TT appeared to be over and there was no body on here yelling about favoritism!?!? Maybe it's because of the kids last name.

I find it hard to believe officials would DQ Terry and then intentionally cheat to give his son a chance at a better starting spot!

I do agree there have been a few times in the past when I didn't agree on how things were ruled on at Knoxville. But ask yourself, where else would you rather watch a sprint car race?

My 16 year old daughter and I were at Knoxville last night.

We had a ball. Great weather. Ate some pizza. Split a malt cup. Rooted for our favorite cars (sometimes based on color). Loved the fireworks. Talked. Laughed. Really enjoyed our time at the races.

Not once did we think or worry about who was standing where in the pits, where personal vehicles were parked, why someone time trialed late...

Did I mention we had a great time?

glad you had a great time. while a fan in the stands is not required to know the rules or the way an event is ran, it does help to know what is going on. are you telling me that when you go to other sporting events you pay no attention to the rules of the game or how it is officiated? when you go to a football game, do you know or care when offsides happens? do you know or care when a ref makes a bad call, no matter how much of a great time you are having, or how much pizza you eat? i am not saying anything at the knoxville was done wrong, because i don't know. it really doesn't matter what you think. the other racers know when and if they have been screwed or someone has gotten preferred treatment.

I was at the races Saturday night and thought racing was great, some of the negative comments make me wonder why you don't just stay home and let the rest of us enjoy the racing at Knoxville. After living/working in Minnesota, Missouri and Texas and a final relocation here before retirement, this is the best of anyplace I have lived and watching racing. For the negative comments people were standing up more and more in the stands as McCarl worked his way to the front. Great Races

WOW, I have it figured out now!!! Last night I found out I knew nothing about sprint car racing at Waynesfield. The guy behind my in the food line was telling how Dave Blaney's brother Chad races the so called Stars Sprints, how Tony Stewart races WOO during the week but won't race wingless but he should because this guy had been to Waynesfield many times this year thinking Tony was going to be there and hasn't been, plus Tony races sometimes at a place near Dayton.

I finally figured it out!!! This guy use to sit at Knoxville with all you and he has wondered off...Please give him directions home, it sounds like he fits in well with you guys. Maybe that is why someone was standing in the wrong place or parked wrong last night. Dang, all I usually go to see is a good race, I better start checking this stuff out when I hit track from now on....what was i thinking!!!

I don't know what their rules are down there but whatever happened doesn't seem worth getting all riled up over.

First off I love going down to Knoxville, and love him or hate him, its good t-mac is back. That means another car on the track. BUT, letting A-MAC time trial after time trials were over with was wrong. sure we all make mistakes, and it happens, but he didn't make it out in the allotted time, so he should tag the end of one of the heat races. Also, t-mac was found to not have his tire stamped, DQ'd for his heat...makes sense he should tag the end of the field for the A-main... I saw the line up board and thats where he was scheduled to start, about 2 minutes before the 410's rolled out they changed it and put him up about 3 or 4 rows.. not saying it would have changed the end result because he was fast and he prolly would have worked his way up to the front.. I guess my question is why did he get to start in front of other cars when he was DQ'd in his heat? Thanks.

Over the years, how many times did "Uncle Teddy" pull some stunt in order to benefit one of his "travelers?"

Yeah, I can't remember how many either! Smile

Terry started 16th in the A. Behind all 15 cars that finished in the top 5 of the heats.

Was responding to kvillefan83's post. He seems to have a problem with where Terry lined up. He finished in the top 5 of his heat but was DQ'ed. So he started behind all the heat race transfers. He started first among those who finished outside the top 5 in the heats because he had the fastest time trial of all the non transfers. He was NOT Dq'ed in time trials so there was no reason for him not to get his time spot back behind the heat qualifiers.

Failure to understand the whole situation on your part does not equal favortism on their part.

Isn't it a moot point anyway.

Did they let him time, yes, which let him start in the 3rd row of his heat. Had he transferred (he didn't as he pulled in with power steering issues), only one person that I can think of would have had cause to complain (Skip Jackson).

With Austin timing in 3rd, it would have taken Skip off the front row and put him to the 5th row for the start (I guess the same would have happened had the officials looked the other way when it came to Terry's tire in the heat race as well).

So, I guess what I am trying to say here is that it had ZERO affect on the outcome of the races that night. Had he transferred through the heat (and Terry not been DQ'ed), it would be something different entirely, as Dobmeier and Brown would have started on the Front Row instead of Row 2 and Terry and Austin would have lined up in row 3 instead of rows 8 and 9.

I guess I'll look at it this way. The winner started 4th, 2nd place started 5th, 3rd place started 16th, 4th place started 7th and 5th place started 3rd. Seems like I watched a GREAT race and others on here are only concerned about the fact that a car got to time trial after the National Anthem was sang (heck, I go every week, dislike McCarl, and they were pitted DIRECTLY in front of where I sit every week.

I didn't pay attention to whether or not Austin was ready or not as I was paying attention to the invocation and National Anthem.

When did they start paying $$$ to time trial?? Did I miss that somewhere??
