Wild West Speedway will be moving our Saturday program to Fridays starting June 18th.

Q: What classes will be running?

A: BIG TRACK classes will be Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Factory Stk, Hobby (pure) Stk & Mini Stk. We are also considering Pro-Street every other week. SHORT TRACK classes will be Quads and Karts. Everything will run on the same night.

Q: We heard WWS is going to give a FREE pit pass to the first 20 drivers in each class. Is that true?

A: Yes! Free pit pass for the first 20 drivers in each class will start SATURDAY JUNE 5th when our new format goes into effect.

Q: So we have two more Saturday races before the change to Fridays, why wait till June 18th?

A: The Gene Cantrell benefit race is scheduled for Friday June 4th at Elk City Speedway and we are working with them to make the benefit race successful. On Friday June 11th NCRA has a show scheduled at ECS and we promised David Smith with NCRA that we wouldn't schedule a show on top of them so we will wait until the following week to change days.

Q: Are any of the rules changing?

A: The Hobby Stock rules have been opened up to include Pure Stock and Bomber type cars as well as IMCA legal Hobby Stocks. This IS NOT a IMCA sanctioned class for WWS so no IMCA license is required.

Q: Will Modifieds still run the "Outlaw Race Format"?

A: No, Modifieds will go to a "draw-redraw" format, like USMTS runs.

Q: Will the purse stay the same?

A: No, we are adjusting the purse to raise the start money. click here for purse sheet

Q: Why change to Fridays?

A: When we made the decision to open the track for weekly racing in 2010 the State Fair Speedway in OKC was still open and running on Friday and we just didn't think it wise to go head to head with them. With the new reality being that SFS is definitely closed for good we are of the opinion that us moving to Friday is good not only for racers but for WWS and other Oklahoma tracks.

Q: What time are the races on Friday.

A: Pits open at 5pm, Draw closes at 7pm (late entries start on back), Grandstands open at 7pm, Races start at 8pm.

Plus dont forget they are now running Mini Stocks, same rules as Meeker. The race track will be moving to Friday nights starting June 18th.

The way I took it is that if you are one of the first 20 cars in your class your entry fee is free, but you might want to call the track to be sure.

I called Joe and he said the first 20 cars in each class this Saturday all they have to pay is the $5.00 transponder fee. Sounds like a great deal, hope to see you there.
