Returned home from Jackson Speedway - but where in the heck were all the cars? Small field especially in the sprints. Sure hope that the count improves - otherwise, it makes for a boring evening.

Jon - thanks for giving such a nice tribute to all the service personel as well as the emergency units. I'm sure it was very much appreciated.

Thanks!!

Just curious, how many sprints were at Jackson? Thanks.

Here's an update on the other 360 sprint car events held in the Twin Cities area from this past weekend.

Kopellah had 24 UMSS sprints on Friday night and Arlington had 21 sprints on Saturday night for the first IMCA-UMSS Challenge race. Jerry Richert, Jr. would have been on hand at Arlington as well, but his car sustained serious front-end damage (bent over 2"wink from a Friday night crash and could not be repaired in time to make it down there. The six UMSS rookie contenders who raced on Friday night did not make the Arlington race, as several of them felt they needed more seat time before venturing to a bigger track like Arlington while a couple had other commitments. A few other cars needed to make repairs from the Friday night show while about a half dozen had other holiday weekend plans. Had several of the cars mentioned above been able to attend, we likely would have exceeded the 24 car mark at Arlington. For our area, I was very pleased with the car count at both the Kopellah and Arlington shows this weekend. I got to see a number of different 360 sprint cars and drivers at both events. Smile

The UMSS ramps up again next weekend with another big double-header! It's $1,000 to win at Kopellah on Friday night June 4 and $1,500 to win the 18th Annual Kouba Memorial at Brainerd on Saturday June 5.

It might be noted that none of the cars at Arlington on Saturday night were Jackson regulars so the UMSS/IMCA race was not a factor in the car count for Jackson's weekly show.
