Sources tell me that there could be some breaking news, about the future of dirt track racing here in Oklahoma City, tonight at 5:00 PM on channell 9. This is something that they were made aware of and it could break at this time or in the very near future.
Stay tuned.....

You mean like the date they are taking a wrecking ball to the grandstands? If its from Dirt Racing Productions the announcement will prolly be that there will be a huge announcement in the near future. Sorry to be so pessimistic but at this point I just can't get excited anymore just to be disappointed. My blood pressure can't take it.
David, I hope this is some really great news that we have all been waiting for.

Channel nine story
Dirt Racing Complex Planned for Piedmont
PIEDMONT, Oklahoma -- A dirt racing complex could be making its way to Piedmont.
"It's not a matter of if, but when," said John Banks, Dirt Racing Promotions spokesperson.
Banks said his group has been in talks with city officials and Piedmont to bring a venue into town.
Piedmont Mayor Mike Fina said this is a win-win situation and they're still looking for a potential site to accommodate a dirt racing complex.
"There are three potential places we're looking at that'll be located away from the residential area because of the noise and dirt," Fina said.
After a losing battle to save the speedway at the state fairgrounds, Banks said he wants to keep dirt racing alive.
"The reason I do this is not for money, but for the racers," said Banks. "This is something central Oklahoma has been waiting for."
The plan is still preliminary. The discussion of the dirt racing complex will be brought up in a city council meeting after a formal plan is approved this summer.

I will keep quiet. I would like to know what others think of this.

Ok after watching the news story I have to ask a few questions. Where is the money coming from for this track? They were asking for private donations but if anyone was at the ORA meeting back in March then you know what they think of donations. Paraphasing what Banks said at the meeting after he was asked about the money. He said you can look at our books if you would like but in my opinion it is none of your business.
Also, in the story it said the Mayor of Piedmont came from a racing background. What type of racing does he come from.

I agree I will believe when I see it, but hey if somehow it gets done - cool.
BUT until then, open wheel fans should look at what is CURRENTLY running. If not able to make an ASCS2 Port City double.........surely all of you open wheel fans could get your butts up to Creek County sunday. It's going to be a great open wheel show, possibly not equaled until the TNT show in August. There will be 4 classes of open wheel classes running. The 3 divisions of ASCS2 - as well as a 750 to win/125 to start Champ Sprint show. Wanna see open wheel racing without sitting through hours of stock car racing? here's your chance!!!

I not sure of the racing history but his dad has built several street rods and was involved in racing years ago. A better question is why they have trenched electrical lines to the grandstand.

That type of attitude is the same as it was when you thought it was somebody else problem about SFS. You cant wait to post bad news about Tracks shutting down and then when there is some hope your the first to talk crap. Still enjoying the Government plan, whats new on Oprah?

That is a good question! There is rumors going on about that as well but why post them here when the whole world can see what type of support they get from the racing community when topics are posted.

I dont care who told you about Grand Prairie, you posted that news here. As far as your comments on SFS when some we're trying to help save it you stated and I quote "why should we help fix it let Lanny or the City or the Fairgrounds do it". As far as bitting you I dont care much for Bullsh!t.

I called it "breaking news" because the couple of people who told me about the news blurb had no idea what it was about either - just that something was going to be aired possibly. Nobody I talked to knew what it was going to pertain to.

JD when I talked to you at the signing part back in Feb. I was told not more than five mins prior by one member of this group to choose my sides carefully. I was kinda like really I wonder what that meant but now knowing what I know now I fully understand the meaning.
