I will give you some credit or whoever is responsible because at least the track is smooth and is in way better shape than week #1. Now what has happened to one of the raciest most respected bull rings in this entire country. The last 2 weeks we the avid fans have been witness to a 1 lane freightrain around the bottom and it leaves me scratching my head. What happened to the days of a cushion?? Have not seen anyone have to come out and scrape mud of the walls and really the only passing going on is when a guy slips up out of the groove and falls back a spot. I thought last night getting to watch Sammy come from the back would have been a added bonus but he struggled his way up to........................................5th in like a 14 car race, unreal. Lets get some water on that track and make it great for racing before the car counts shrink anymore or before we the fans find better things to do on Sunday Nights. Husets has always been my favorite short track but something needs to change period.

Its too bad that such a good track has gone the shits. It has that Americana feel to it, the "Good old time Saturday night race track".I used to travel from Winnipeg to see races there, but I guess I will save the wear and tear on the vehicle and money too. Will have to go see what Danny Schatz has for specials this year. Too bad. Husets WAS a great track.

they probally have a very big offer on the table, for the shit hole and are gonna take it. they will turn around and say the dirt was used up and no good racing surface could be made out of it.
i guess we should give them credit, they lined their pockets with our money for years now they can turn around and sell it for god knows what.
and we were all stupid enough to pay and go. they have always and will always be out for number 1. seen that the first year they bought the track.
what a waste. then one of them was at jackson. friday night which i hope he had to pay to get in. he seen what real promoting will do. yes the races lasted to long, but jon has guts enough to admit his mistakes.

If you're talking the USRA Sprints (all five of them), it's $200 to win, I think.............

The 3 day All-Star show sounds like a great idea this year up there...

It's sad but I think it's just a matter of time. I knew it 5 years ago when I met some guy that bought a house just south of the track. He was bitching about all the noise on Sunday nights. I asked him what the hell he expected buying a home near a racetrack that has been around for 50? years.
Unfortunately the east-side of Sioux Falls will be the next boom area of town as we sprawl out of control. It won't be long until Sioux Falls, Brandon, Tea and Harrisburg will be one contiguous town. Husets will just be a memory as you will be able to buy a McMansion on the corner of Front stretch drive and Victory lane.
Meanwhile the center of town will turn into slums and ghettos due to lack of development and the traffic between Sioux Falls and Brandon will be horrendous. It's already getting there, take 10th St east past I-229 and the traffic sucks.
I really fear how Sioux Falls and Husets will end up. It's already spread out all over for no reason. At least we still have I90 Speedway. Sigh...

Where is I 90 Speedway. Is that the old Harford just east of the Sioux?

Huset's is in a flood plain. In the spring of 1993 it DID get flooded. A dam failed upstream on Split Rock Creek they nearly lost the water truck, among other things. It has little value as anything but a race track.

If Hartford or Rocky or Jackson would run 410s every Friday night there would be no need to go to Husets on Sundays.
Still love husets

Huset's has been flooded so much over the years, even the Rubins have probably lost track of how many times that track has been under water.

It sounds like another Lake County Speedway deal too me. Bleed it dry and then hope someone wants to buy it for planting rice.

I know this is just extra wear on my keyboard but it seems that it would be a good time for I-90 to up the purse a little bit. Maybe throw an extra $2,000 into the purse for the 360's. It's seems fair if they're consistently getting around 30 cars. Husets is in alot of trouble if just a few of the teams bend up race cars and arent able to put another car on the track. Nobody is overly entertained by a 5 car feature. In my opinion it's a good time for Lyle to capitalize on the possible (inevitable) changes that will be coming soon at Huset's.

paydirt that's a good point but too often I get the feeling that Lyle is just as big of an idiot as the Rubins.

From coast to coast, this doesn't seem to be too good a year for promoters!

Unfortunately beev, your probably right. All the promoters seem to have the same "why should I pay out more than that guy" mentality. All the more reason to give kudos to McCorkell out at Jackson. Too bad that place is so dreadfully hard on equipment.

As much crap as the Rubins get on here, maybe they should sell or turn the place into something that would make money without all the headaches. Keep it up people...pretty soon there won't any tracks for you to bitch about.

You people should go watch a movie called "One Six Right" on hulu.com. Then come back an give your thought abouts dying race tracks.
