After the meeting last night the fairboard said they are going to make a decision by June 1st. From what I was told a promoter from Dodge City was there and he is wanting to run only 4 shows. The other was Herold Shaw. I hope Herold gets it back so there will be more then 4 shows and in my oppion he was a good promoter back when I was racing. So we should know something pretty soon.

From what I was told he was not there. This is just what I was told so maybe JD can answer that one. I sure hope someone gets it back open.

The promoter from Dodge City would be Ed Beckley. He also runs Liberal about twice a month. Ed always has been and still is not just a track operator but a PROMOTER and does alot of his PR and is outragious when talking about racing to the fans. Really an upbeat guy.

Like Jimmy, I do hope something can get worked out where at least one fairgrounds facility stays open.

Ed is a really good promotor, always has a great car and fan count when i have been to dodge city for the races, even if it is 4 races he wants to do , i would rather see 4 races with alot of cars and fans, then saturday nights with only 30 or so cars and no crowd, either way there needs to be racing at that track, hate to see another track gone...

I was wondering if anyone on here knew how to go about getting my money from Enid. I ran their weekly show a month or so ago. I didn't pick up my pay thinking they would just mail it....Hmmm.....Guess not.

Thanks,

Larry Neighbors

Hey racers and race fans I would like to make sure this whole thing is positive.

There is only one reason I went down there yesterday and that was I did not want to see this place closed down. I could see it going the OKC State Fairgrounds way and and decided maybe I could/should do something. The best news is the Fairboard and the management want to keep the race track and they want to build it back up to the stature it was at one time.

I met Mr. Shaw a few years back when I was in town for one of my Monster Truck shows with Bigfoot at the coliseum. Mr. Shaw seemes to be very passionate about racing and seems to be good man.

There are racers in North Central and Western Oklahoma that depend on promoters like us to provide someplace for them to enjoy their passion and their hobby. I met some yesterday in Enid and was very impressed with their devotion to racing.

Whatever the fairboard decides I believe together we can save Enid's track and that was and is my first priority.

Thanks for the comments - you guys made my day!

I know some people didn't care for Harold, but he never told people to go to another track if they didn't like it there.

Im sure the gentleman from kansas is a good guy but really the track needs someone who plans on running weekly shows. 4 events a year wouldnt be fair to the guys who have cars and dont travel. Im sure enid can still have a successful weekly show with the right promoter and if the fairboard would get on board with said promoter. I heard the grumblings when Harold promoted before but his car count was always decent and there were always fans in the stands. My belief is, if whomever gets the track keeps it fair across the board and respects the drivers/owners/fans, then the track will recover from this total disaster. It will take time but can be the place to race once again!!!

I heard Harolds backers changed his mind ,so Harold may be out of picture. I hope whoever gets it moves the pits so the fans can see the racing .Most adults go to see the racing ,most kids go to see the wrecks which you can do neither when pits are full of diesel car haulers. there needs to be lots of changes, and the fairboard is going to have to be willing to change. As eith any good business it must change to keep its customers coming back. The fans, racers, pit people are a race tracks customers. Thier customer base pays the bills, you must keep them happy to have a good race track.
