Just a heads up that he spacing in this thing is messed up after copying and pasting from Word. Anyone know how to avoid this for next week?!?

Welcome Mat Jacob Ossenfoort, Ryan Bickett, and Dusty Wasmund all sign in for the first time with the 410 class.
MIA Clint Garner, Marlon Jones, A-Mac, John Lambertz, Wade Nygaard

Time Trials (1 lap each) Chad Meyer (5th car out) set the quickest time at 11.863 seconds on the unusually dry surface after drilling the wall coming to the green. He bested Mark Dobmeier at 11.900 and Scott Winters at 11.977. The rest of the guys hitting the heat race invert: Gregg Bakker, Lynton Jeffrey, Jake Peters, Jody Rosenboom, Robby Wolfgang, Ossenfoort, Wasmund, Johnn Cressman, and Troy Meyer.
Time Trials Grade: B; Very weird to see the unusual track conditions so early in the night.Chance of rubber come feature time.

Heat 1 Finish: 56 14 23w 12 99J 101 4
Heat 1 Notes: Cressman snatched the initial lead as Ossenfoort and Rosenboom duked it out for 2nd. Rosenboom grabbed that and started coming after Cressman for the lead as Winters shot up to 3rd. Rosenboom eventually grabbed the lead coming off the bottom of turn four as Winters now entered the mix. Contact between Cressman and Rosenboom into turn three on the last lap resulted in Cressman grabbing his first heat win of the year with Rosenboom finishing 2nd. McGillivray got around C. Meyer late to grab 6th.

Heat 2 Finish: 11 9 11x 13 16 33 17B (DNF)
Heat 2 Notes: T. Meyer and Wasmund battled for the early lead with T. Meyer having the point. Bakker gave Peters a slider into turn three to grab 3rd with Dobmeier eventually following Bakker to 4th as he got around Peters. Another great battle up front between the 11 and 9 which had T. Meyer getting his 1st heat win of the year.
Heat Grades: A; Great racing up front in both heat races!
Baete Forseth Back Row Challenge Dobmeier and Winters were eligible for a $500 bonus if they went to the back to win, but both declined it. Any driver that takes it the challenge during the year is eligible for a $5,000 bonus in the last race of the year, just like last year.

A Feature Notes: Cressman (throttle linkage problem) and McGillivray scratch before the race starts. Rosenboom led the start but Peters was able to lead the first lap as he took the lead off the high side coming to complete lap one. Peters was able to stretch his lead to about a straightaway over Jeffrey as he took 2nd on lap seven getting around Jody.Bakker and Dobmeier were fighting for 4th at this juncture of the race.
At the halfway point, Jeffrey really kicks it into gear and was chopping into Peters’ lead. With 11 to go, Jeffrey peaked his nose coming off the bottom of two but couldn’t complete the pass, but this was only the beginning! The two stayed right next to each other as Peters was riding the rim and Jeffrey on his coveted bottom parts of the track. Lynton grabbed the lead with 9 laps to go as they came to the line, only to see that vanish as Bickett stopped on the backstretch on that lap to negate the pass.
The restart with 9 to go had Peters leading ahead of Peters, Rosenboom, Bakker, Dobmeier, and Winters. Lynton snatched the lead coming off the bottom of four on that lap only to see Peters take it back with 6 to go. The two were switching positions in every corner for the next few laps with Peters being the official leader until 3 to go. After a failed slider the lap before, Lynton grabbed the lead off the bottom of turn two and wouldn’t look back as he grabbed the $2,500 victory. Lynton moved up just about a car length in turns one and two as it looked and smelled like some rubber was finally being laid over there. The win was his 4th career one at the track and 6th career State-side.Lap Leaders: Peters 1-16, 20-22; Jeffrey 17-19, 23-25
A Feature Grade: A+; Huset’s goes out and totally redeems their self by providing one of the raciest tracks of recent memory. Awesome weekly race, and hopefully the ruts are gone for good (again).Man, no one can run that bottom like Lynton does here.
360s (14 Cars) The slick track saw Eric Lutz grab the initial lead, but Cody Hansen grabbed it off the bottom of turn two. Most drivers were on the bottom of the track for the first half of the race, until the top really started to come in at the halfway point. The two up top early were Kevin Flowers and Johnn Cressman and they were coming in a hurry. Lutz finally moved to the top with 6 to go and looked like he was going to get by Hansen, but he moved up as well. Hansen looked like he was going to get the win, but Jordan Martens stopped atop turn three on the white flag lap.
Lutz tried to put a slider on Hansen on the restart in turn three, spun out in the process, but kept all eight candles lit to keep going. As that was happening, Casey Abbas came out of nowhere and took the last lap lead (again) coming off the bottom of turn two to grab the win again for the second race weekend in a row.It was also his 9th career 360 win.
360 Finish: 17v 4 56 17B 1 2D 15 8 5 24/ 42 13JM (DNF) 81 12
FOAW: Let’s give it to Lynton for the first time ever. I will take him over anybody at running the bottom at Huset’s, yes that includes Wertz’s friend Lasoski.
Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: The entire second half of the 410 race was about as good as it gets. Man, short track racing is back after being rutted out after opening weekend.
Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: The major shout-out to yours truly during intermission. I figured it was coming after the debacle of opening week, but Rod and Shawn were making me blush with how long they talked about this very Report. Thanks guys!
WTF: Car count really needs to be addressed. I’ll be saying a prayer tonight that we will be back up to around 18 in a few weeks with the guys that are missing right now. It sucks to see 23 show up for a show two nights before at Rocky, 31 at Knoxville the night before, and only getting 14 tonight. Sucks to see guys like Tony Bruce Jr. skip out at racing up here after driving from western Kansas just for Knoxville, when he loves racing at Huset’s… step it up to get some drivers. More cars will equal more fans in the summer, trust me.
“Home of the Professionals” Moment of the Night: Nothing at all.Races over by 9:40, and no major hiccups along the road tonight.
Mulligan Moment: Lutz spinning out after taking the lead momentarily in the 360 feature, but he went for it and wasn’t going to settle for 2nd!
Head Scratcher: The only gripe about the track was the lack of moisture after a week full of rain. I may be getting a little greedy here, but a little more moisture for next week and guys like Dobmeier and Winters would have a better chance of coming from further back and leading to a Back Row Challenge. Still a good track that equated into an even better race.
Thumbs Up: Scott Bolte Sanitation is sponsoring a 5K to win show on July 11th. There will be a double header Memorial Day Weekend with the NOSA guys racing on Sunday night. And to Tod Quiring of Big Game Treestands for getting the fire and safety crew at the track new firesuits coming up here in a few weeks!
Thumbs Down: … May be getting redundant, but the car counts suck in all the classes.
Prime Mover: Dobmeier passed the most cars coming from 6th to 3rd. Abbas came from 9th to win in the 360 feature.
YouTube Clip of the Week: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1otnOgxs-Q Mostly everybody has probably already seen this, but holy shit, Mr. Schatz is lucky to be breathing after that wreck. I immediately thought of the Curtis Boyer wreck at the Nationals after seeing that. It was pretty much a racing deal in my mind between him and Montieth, and I’m glad everyone is okay after that vicious wreck.
Trophy Queen Grade: A; Get to the Huset’s website and take a look for yourself!
Closing Stat of the Night: I was going to look up the last time Lynton won at Huset’s (seems like a longer time than it actually is) but couldn’t get OpenWheelTimes.com to get a search done for it. After going through the Huset's database it was Lynton's first win since July 4, 2004. Yikes!
Final Thought: Great night of racing on what can-be the best short track in America. Big weekend next week with a $5K to win 360 show at Jackson on Friday, a possible trip down to Knoxville on Saturday with the 23w, and then back home on Sunday for the weekend finale. Reports coming on Friday (if it’s not too late of a night) and Sunday.
