FANS 70 & OVER FREE AT SATURDAY'S USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR RACE AT PERRIS!

(APRIL 10, 2007, PERRIS, CA) This Saturday night, when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris Auto Speedway, it will be "Oldtimers Night." Any fan age 70 or older, who shows a valid id at the ticket window this Saturday, will be admitted free. In addition to the stars and cars of today, the Western Racing Association will be on hand with gorgeous, vintage Sprint Cars, Midgets and a few Jalopies dating back as far as the 1930s. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.

"We started with naming June "Kid's Month" in 2000 or 2001," promoter Don Kazarian said from behind his desk on Monday afternoon. "Kids are free throughout the month of June. We added 1950's Night and then 1960's Night for fans born in those decades. They proved to be very popular. So, we added 70's and 40's Nights for fans born in those decades and now Oldtimers Night to honor any fans who are age 70 or older. It is always a lot of fun."

Speaking of fun, the USAC/CRA Series is off to an incredible start in 2007. Through the first ten races, the series has produced ten different winners. "How often have you seen any short track series produce ten different winners to open a season," Kazarian asked? "The level of competition in the USAC/CRA Series is fantastic! And, do not forget that Rip Williams, Rickie Gaunt and Danny Sheridan, just to name a few, have not won yet! This is truly some great racing."

Heading the list of entries for the Western Racing Association is 84 year-old Walt James of Acton, California. The former 21-year president of the original CRA has an unmistakable twinkle in his eye and an enthusiasm for racing that is second to none. Elected to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1993, James will be competing in the WRA Sprint Car division. He will be challenged by among others, 83-year old Bill Gerard of Santa Ana, California and Paso Robles, California's 75-year old Kenny Van Blargen who is a former Santa Maria Speedway Champion. 81-year old West Covina, California resident Dick Hughes heads the list of entries for the WRA Midgets. There will be several Offenhauser powered Midgets in action and the nostalgic sound of those cars is worth the price of admission alone.

Saturday's display of dirt track aggression will include qualifying, four 10-lap heat races, a 12 lap B main and a furious 30 lap A main event for the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. The WRA drivers will contest a heat and main event for each division.

On Friday, the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday's gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.

Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.

Wingless Sprints, BCRA Midgets highlight five division program at Placerville Saturday

By Bill Sullivan
PLACERVILLE, CA – Five divisions of race cars will be in competition this Saturday Night at Alan Padjen's Placerville Speedway for the third event in the 2007 El Dorado County New Car Dealers, Hoosier Racing Tires, Coors Light championship racing season. The Wingless Sprint Cars of the Hunt Magnetos, Placerville Speedway/Silver Dollar Speedway championship series will make their first appearance of the season here. The duel track series will be joined by the mighty Midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association along with wingless Midget Lites as well as Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.
As the Wingless Sprint Cars make their first of five appearances here, Placerville Fans will welcome two time track champion Billy Wallace of Grass Valley back to the track where he won championship titles in the winged division in 1999 and 2001. After competing in several venues for much of last season, Wallace has committed to racing in the wingless series for the 2007 racing season and will return to his home track in the wake of a victory last Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.
Wallace currently leads the series point standings with an 8-point advantage over Jay Youngman. Brandon Davis ranks third in the standings, 12-points out of the lead while Matt Streeter is fourth followed by Cody Myers.
Saturday's event will mark the first of two season appearances for the traditional full powered midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association. This exciting division competes on both pavement and dirt throughout their annual season and will share the spotlight with their sister division, the Midget Lites. Unlike last week, the Midget Lites will compete wingless for this Saturday's event, making all of the events throughout the evening on-the-edge exciting as driver's must finesse their machines far more than when racing with a wing.
Saturday's event is the third championship point race of the season for the Pro and Pure Stock divisions at Placerville. In the Pro Stock division, look for last week's winner Marek Bernert to return with the likes of Dan Brown Jr., Wayne Trimble, Del and Jimmy Tremblay, Mike Moran and many more.
In the Pure Stock division, James Gillespie won the feature event last season after holding off a determined Heather Bartlett to the finish line. It is unconfirmed if the two North State regulars will return this Saturday but surely Folsom's Matt Tilford will be on the roster along with Danielle Clauson, Terry Scher, Brian Stevens, Eddie O'Rourke and many more.

Saturday's event will feature qualifying that will start at 6:30 p.m. Heat Races for all five divisions will take place as well as the necessary feature events that will lead up to the evening concluding feature events.
For further information on Saturday' race, visit www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com, the official website of Placerville Speedway. Additional information can also be obtained by calling the track business office at (916) 969-7484.

Release for Ventura Raceway for 4-14-07

(Oxnard, CA 4/12/07)Ventura Raceway returns to action Saturday night April 14, at 5:30pm at its Ventura County Fairgrounds Facility with another night of exciting open wheel racing action. This weekend we will be featuring three adult classes and two junior classes that always provide fans in attendance exciting moments to remember. Headlining Saturday’s action will be VRA Sprint Cars just back from their first VRA/Bandit Grand Slam race at Bakersfield Speedway last weekend. Also on tap will be the popular VRA Senior Sprints, VRA Dwarf Cars and our VRA Mini Dwarfs and Junior Midgets.

Last weekend at Bakersfield Speedway, VRA star Greg Taylor took his first VRA/Bandit Grand Slam win against the best 360 sprint car drivers in California. He passed Jesse Mack with three laps to go and held on to post an impressive win. Following Taylor and Mack across the line were Davey Pombo, Josh Ford and 2005 Grand Slam Champion Peter Murphy. Other strong performances were made by up and coming VRA youngsters Brandon Thomson who finished 7th, Johnathon Henry who finished 9th, John Nock who finished 10th and Heidi Tressler who finished 14th. Saturday night Greg Taylor goes for three VRA wins in a row against the best VRA can throw against him, including 2006 Champion Luis Espinoza and hard charger Kevin Kierce. We also look forward to the return to action of VRA favorite Chris Wakim.

VRA Senior Sprints return to action Saturday with Last race winner Steve Stasa going for his third win in a row in 2007. With his win in the last race in 2006, Stasa has a chance to set a VRA record with four Senior class wins in a row Saturday. Out to try to stop this from happening will be all the top Seniors, led by past champions Wiley Miller, Ron Bach and a host of other fine over 45 year old competitors.

Last week our VRA Dwarf Cars ran at Bakersfield as a part of the sprint car event. Wins went to Ed Niedzwiecki in Seniors and Jim Scribelitto in Pros. Saturday they are back at Ventura to resume their season long battle to see who will be our 2007 Champions. With over thirty dwarf cars racing in two classes the competition should be fierce.

Also on tap Saturday night will be our VRA Mini Dwarf cars. These cars ran an exhibition event at Bakersfield last weekend. Wins went to Wyatt Shaffer and Zachery Gilmore. Junior Midgets will also be back with another night of racing in this growing class. Last week, Christian Copley took the win to increase his season point’s lead.

Pit Gates open at 12 noon with front gates opening at 3:00 with Junior Class racing at 3:30 and adult racing getting under way at 5:30pm. Admission prices are: $14.00 for adults, $11.00 for Senior/Military and juniors with a school id, $5.00 for children 7-12 with kids 6 and under free. For more information, please call Ventura Raceway at (805) 985-5433 Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
