I heard some news out of Enid today, that Kip Hughes is no longer employed at the speedway. From what I have been told that will make the Champ Sprints future at Enid a little shaky. Rather than post somethings I heard which are second hand. I thought it could be debated on tidbits since fellow tidbiters that live in Enid could confirm it or not. I am in OKC so you all would know more than I would at this point.
IMO Loosing Kip Hughes is like loosing Enid Speedway's last chance to be turned around. The Champ Sprints probably will be thin because from what I have been told. Most were coming to run for Kip not the lease holder.
Enid needs to get it together and quick. Stick with what you got quit changing crap up. If they do continue to run the Champs forget about the RR Goodyear speck tire. Because as far as expense they are talking a tire that is more expensive and can only run at Enid come on get real...

Just got off the phone with Kip. He informs that him and the lease owner had agreed to some obligations before he took over. Kip approached him and asked about meeting those obligations and was informed they couldnt be met. He then inquired about another deal for him to get paid to run the track (he had been doing it all on his own and his reputation all season til now) but that couldn't be met.
Kip decided it was in his best interest to step aside from promotion duties at Enid Speedway Park effective immediately because, as he says, he has his reputation and pride to take care of. And he don't pay to have to work.
Kip does wish the track the best of luck and also wants to thank those who did come back and travel up there to compete at Enid Speedway Park.

Thanks David that confirms what I was told, that is not good for Enid Speedway. Kip was doing good at trying to turn Enid Speedway around. But yes the drama continues so what's next? Is the schedule and payout going to be the same or are they going change as well?

I had only gone up there once, but the sprint class was among the largest if not the largest. Would seem pretty foolish to let them get away.

Your right but there is something in the works. Longpine was offered a amount this morning and if he takes it racing will continue at Enid it maybe a week or two but it will. It is someone everyone knows at Enid and this will be a move in the right direction for racing in Enid to get it back to were it was not that long ago. Hopefully I will be able to update everyone very soon.

Im going to put my 2 cents in here just because ...
I quit going to Enid Speedway last year because of all the B.S. i havent been to a show there this year but have a few friends that have. All of them told me that Kip was doing a heck of a job for what he had been handed. My guess is we havent seen the last of Kip... I hope the RUMOR I was told is true, I was told Pat Mcvicker is trying to purchase the lease, this could be good for the Enid track.
I dont wanna start slamming people here but the current lease holder has ruined this track. You cant run off fans, drivers, and car owners and think that you will be successful!!! I wish them well but its time to let someone else come in and revive Enid Speedway!!!

I think part of the problem was over paying the sprint cars.

I hope someone is able to get the track back open and running in the right direction. I would also hope that the fairboard would open up their greedy eyes and realize that it will be hard for ANYONE to come in and be successful when they are taking all the concessions plus a lease payment!!!
I'm confident that if the fairboard would give the concessions back to the promoter and if the promoter was" TRULY FAIR", then the speedway would start making a recovery from all the damage that has been done.

Yeah that would be a sweet deal!! But it wont happen, Kip wanted to use the old bleachers that are all waded up still laying in the grass from the home show tornado last year for people to sit on in the pits and the fairboard wanted $$ for that too! They want it to fail!

KsT Rocket, I think it is too early to tell yet what will happen and if racing will continue. I would almost predict if nothing is finalized by June 1st for somebody to step in and if not I think nothing for this year. This would also mean the end to the annual Street Stock Nationals, which some say has lost its prestige anyways.
