I would like to apologize to all of my fans for last night’s debacle at Huset’s Speedway. It was not an easy decision to leave, but Kenny & I are confident it was the right one. It probably cost us a shot at the championship, but our dignity and pride are worth more than that. It’s too bad the track owners cannot say the same. The track was unsafe, and extremely hard on equipment. Not to mention that the racing (if you can call it that) was absolutely horrible.
The track owners and announcers (Shawn) may have you believe that those who left, did not have the fans best interest in mind when we made this decision, but our decision was a safety and financial one. It is Huset’s, who did not have the fans best interest in mind, but they are too arrogant to admit they are wrong. You cannot call what took place last night a race. It was a few cars making circles in a plowed field, yet you all paid full price for it. That is a slap in the face. They should have offered rain checks for everyone to get in free next weekend, but we all know that will not happen.
I’m not normally outspoken in situations like this, but I feel strongly for standing up in what’s right, and to have the announcers (Shawn) call us out for our decision and try to paint us as the bad guy, that is wrong, and it will not be forgotten. They need to take responsibility for what took place last night, but I’m willing to bet it will just get swept under the rug.
We will be back at Huset’s next week, and we will be trying our hardest to put on good a show for you, the fans. You deserve that. Hopefully Huset’s will do the same.
Thanks Chad Meyer

Well said chad, My only wish would have been for all the drivers and teams to unite in a effort to make the track do better for its drivers and fans by all deciding to not race given the unsafe conditions. By a partial boycott it left Husets with enough cars to continue with the smoke and mirrors and paint you guys that chose to take a stand as the bad guys....... I looked forward to last night all winter long but that was the worst show I have ever seen at my favorite track. Like you I to will be back next Sunday night but the Show better be better or I can find something else to spend my hard earned dollars on on a Sunday night. Remember what Shawn said so if you get a chance at a interview with him turn the table.

Thank you Chad for speaking out and posting this on here and on the local board. Last night was an absolute joke and the only reason I stayed was because I was told Scott was on the front row as I was rounding up my stuff to leave. I'm going to try to gather all my thoughts and get something written regarding the debacle that happened last night. Again, thank you Chad for making a statement last night by leaving the infield, and writing this up.

Huset's and their announcer doesn't have a clue. When the local wind bag announcer puts the mic in your face take it out of his had hit him in the head with it and then give it back to him and just walk away. Everyone will get the message.
Home of the professionals... Blind flag man, incompetent track prep, score keepers that are legally blind, announcer with his foot stuck in his mouth and nobody can tell time. Sounds like a winning combo for 2010…
When do the Sioux Falls Pheasants open their season?

1. That blind flag man you are referring to is Doug Clark right? If so, he has forgotten more about racing than you will ever know.
2. Before you direct any criticism to any score keepers, grab a pen, and a piece of paper, and give scoring a try. If you turn out to be good at it, I'm sure they would love to have an extra hand. Plus I'm assuming that the sprints have transponders, so how many scoring mistakes can there possibly be.
3. The flagmen, and scorers did'nt have anything to do with the track conditions, so leave them out of it. They're probably race fans like the rest of us, and didn't like what they saw either, but they still had to do their jobs.
4. Any Fan/Drivers have every right to be angry/disappointed. We all know by now the Rubins aren't the greatest promoters/owners around, but give them another chance. Huset's (when run properly) is one of the best tracks around. They probably didn't need to add dirt, if they did they should have done it last fall, then run out all the frost this spring. It's not like they prepare the track to be junk on purpose. But every track preper needs to realise they need to prep the track for more than just a few hours on the day of the race. They need to be more like Knoxville. They are out there a month ahead of time in some cases.
5. I see alot of posts on this message board, with a variety of different complaints. This one is warranted, others aren't, but with the expense of Sprint Car racing these days, we should all consider ourselves lucky anytime we are at a race. We should never take racing for granted, who knows, one day it could be gone forever, then what?
Sorry for a long "soap-box" of a post, and thanks to those who read it.

Blind in one eye, yes. Pretty sure he can still see out of the other one!

Chilly he might be able to see out of that eye but it is typically filled with dirt. He just stands on the flag stand and waves whatever is in his hand.

If Doug Clark is blind what do you call some of the other flagman? I think the worst one I've seen is the guy the that was at U.S 36 raceway last year.

Amazing how many "New" identities pop up every year and they all are whiners/bitchers/complainers. Man up for God's sake, quit being a puss.
