MDLMS Prepares to Invade Wild West Speedway for Inaugural Visit
by Dusty Wiegert
CLINTON, Okla. -- For the first time in Wild West Speedway history the Midwest DIRTcar Late Model Series will roll into Clinton, Oklahoma on Saturday May 1 in their season opener of their second season.
This will be the first time any kind of Late Model will visit the 3/8 mile 26-degree banked clay oval, according to promoter Joe Madore. The show will be day 2 of a big racing weekend for the Speedway and will feature the IMCA Southern SportMods and Factory Stocks as support classes.
A strong contingent of racers are looking forward to making the haul to the Wild West Speedway. In an area where there is nearly a non-exitent number of Late Models the series looks forward to showing the fans what Late Model racing is all about with a full field of the wedge-bodied gladiators.
Ticket prices for the event will be $15 for adults, $7 for youth 6-12 years old, and 5 & under youth are free. Pit passes will be $30.
Pits open at 5PM with draw closing at 7PM and racing at 8PM.
The Wild West Speedway is located 1 hour west of Oklahoma City on I-40. It's located off exit 66 (Highway 183), 2 miles south and one mile east on County Line Road (ECR1070).

Do you remember what series or was it just a special event of some sort? I looked thru the DirtOnDirt.com history section and couldn't find anything? Not calling you out by any means, just interested in what kind of race it was? Gary Gorby told me last night he raced there around 95/96 once so I'm guessing it was the same deal?

The day is finally here! It's race day for the season opener of the Midwest DIRTcar Late Model Series! Come down and join us tonight as we tackle the Wild West Speedway for the first time ever! With all of the precipitation in the area we might see a nice car count tonight. I have received calls from Arkansas, Texas, and Colorado as well as Kansas and Oklahoma. Should be a great evening if we can dodge some weather
