Any of you ever watch Lonesome Dove?
Gus was fed up with the Captain's view of avoiding death. At one point he said "It ain't die'n I'm talkin' about, it's LIVIN"!
Even if EVERY SINGLE APPENDAGE IN OKLAHOMA WAS EASILY ACCESSIBLE, would it be worth going to see? Handicapped people ARE PEOPLE TOO.
---
I'm a fat guy, but that doesn't mean I am only interested in going to where all the fat people are. HELL NO! I want to go where I want to go.
In a wheelchair or not, LIVING is the most important. Handicapped people like racing too. Just go to Texas Motor Speedway and look , you'll see lots of wheelchairs.
As racers and fans, and as Americans............and Oklahomans I might add.............you were born to fight for the little guy, much more for someone else, than for yourself. Yes, it is in you. That is one of the quiet hidden qualities that make this such a fine country to live in.
What about the wheelchair bound, walker reliant, people? What about the people who don't care to party in Bricktown, go to basketball, baseball, hockey games or horse shows? WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE TO GAMBLE IN THE CASINOS, GO TO STRIP CLUBS, DANCE AND DRINK ALL NIGHT IN THE MEAT MARKETS?(which I happen to like to do, but at 42 life and the pursuit of old race cars isn't letting me).
For many of us, racing, and the life around it, is our favorite sin. Keep in mind, we have more to fight for than just ourselves.
With that said, I will be in OkC today and will be spending my moolah, providing a few tax dollars. I would like for them to go towards saving the speedway, we'll see.
