Well, talked to Barnes the other day......the notice was supposed to come out in the newspaper for the bids on the new contract about 2 weeks ago and hasn't made it yet!! I was informed they had a Tony Orlando concert at the Expo so things have been hectic!!!!!! I was told to "keep watching the paper". Apparently the fair board isn't in a real big hurry huh??! I called the Garfield County Commissioners office and asked who oversees the "fair board", and she said she didn't know to call Barnes......hmmm Maybe they don't answer to anybody?! Maybe dirtrack234 knows the answer? I have a notion to post the commissioners names and phone numbers on here and maybe some people could make some phone calls to them and see what they have to say. Sorry I don't know any more..........guess it's just typical county politics in Enid America............

Sounds like the fairboard has been blowing smoke up everyone's ass also 'if all this is true'! No wonder why there was no news paper article about bids! Now this is what I was told so don't be surprised if it changes. But it does make sense now.

I just got off the phone with Steve at the fairgrounds and he told me that no decision has been finalised as of today. So unless it's bullshit there feeding us I don't know whats going on or who is telling the truth. But I do know were running out of time and getting the run around.

damn, I hope not....
it would have been better being shut down
tech was horrible, flagman was worse, and promoting just down right stank!!!
Maybe they will turn it around and learn from the ton of mistakes and get them corrected, I for
one was looking for a different decision.
hey jimmy, give me a call when you and your children head out to race, Ill go with you so I can see some good racing..

I talked to David Henneke lastnight and he said Longpine is gonna keep the track for his remaining year on his contract for sure. He decided to keep it. I dont start rumors and that came from Davids mouth himself and hes on the fairboard. I sure dont know how Longpine plans on turning anything around after not having a banquet and no trophies. Sometime you just need to let a dead dog lay. Count ur losses and go on. We need a fresh face at the track to get it back to where it was 4 or 5 years ago. The i dont give a f87ck attitude and buying have the racers at the track an engine doesnt work. Rules should be backed up and CARS SHOULD BE TECH'd EVERYNIGHT! I think if they keep the track its a dumb move on longpines part. They fucked every single person that supported that track this year and didnt give us shit. Not even vasoline for the good f'in.

After what they pulled with the banquet, trophies, and jackets they will be lucky to get half the cars they had last season. I hate to say it but I thank this is a bad move. It's probably cheaper for him to keep the track and take a loss then have to pay off the lease.

this is very sad
hopefully they figured out that the real partners(fans, drivers, owners, and pitmen) need and should be treated with respect!!!!!!!!!
who would want to support anyone who did thier supporters the way he did?
I say lets all go watch the kids at jrp....
Jimmy, I have a son that wants to badly, its not feasible in my budget though. i will go with you a few times to just watch and have good time, then maybe get an extra paint job or two and let him get after it next year.

I guess the best way to handle this situation if Longpine actually does get the track again, is for all the racers, fans, etc.. support him like he supported us and bite the bullet and go elsewhere to race instead of here........but that would be pretty hard to do to get everyone (or the majority) to basically boycott the track.

I dont think it would be that tough...
your only speaking about 30 - 35 cars total for all the classes.
as bad as its been here at Enid lately, Im for whatever it takes to get it back to where it was just a short time ago. Im in agreement with Dustin Allen, they have gotten Enid in a downward spiral and it will only be worse why they have the track.

It wound not be hard to do. They only averaged 36 cars last season. But I don't thank it's necessary most of the cars wont show up anyway. They already burnt too many bridges. Who wants to race and not get anything to show for it at the end of next season when there wont be any banquet, trophies or jackets for the top 10 at the end of the 2010 season like this year.

Let's all stop fighting among each other. There is a bigger goal to be achieved. We all want to Race and have someplace to do that. All of this petty pissing and moaning will surely put a end to our racing in the near future across the State.

Uncle A,
I have read your posts many times and most of them makes sense.
There is no fighting here, you would have had to be here to understand the real magnitude of this situation. I have witnessed some really unbelievable stuff at this track. Seriously, the tech man has no idea what he is doing, the flagman (on several occassions) would be waving the green flag with the yellow lights on, waving the white and letting cars race 5 more laps, letting cars sit for 2 or 3 laps before throwing a yellow. The promoter had fans kicked out of stands 2 years ago for booing him. Had a real photographer that used to do all the photos but they ran him off, had a wrecker service that used to bring 3 wreckers every saturday but they ran him off. The worse thing ever the promoter at driver meetings yelling the words " if you dont like it then go race somewhere else"!!!!
I have been attending this race track since 1975 and have never seen any promoter run it in the ground like longpine and colville. I have nothing against either one of these guys besides them killing a great tradition at Enid Speedway.
Then to top it all off, they cancelled the banquet for 2009 and none of the top 10 from each class got a tropy or jacket. The funny thing is, they will say the building they were having it got rented out from them but still no trophies or jackets. The guys who deserve those trophies and jackets supported that track all of last season and got shit on by these two.
I just want racing to get back to what it was a short time ago here in Enid!!!
Honest teching - someone who knows what they are looking for and it shouldnt matter who is in the barn.
A flagman to control the race with safety first.
Promoters realizing that they are essentially in a partnership with the fans, drivers, owners, and pitmen
Thats all Im asking for.....
