They know how to put on a show! If last year was any indication we are in for a treat.

I haven't been able to find any rules on the Texas show, do we have to run the rear filler panels on the mods? Just curious.

Yes, you do need to run a rear filler panel; and the modified rules are on the event flyer on my site...here's the direct link to the flyer that contains the rules (on page 2):

Today (Friday 2/12) is the PRE-entry deadline! Click on the link above and enter NOW or do it the old fashioned-way and drop an entry blank in the mail. Must be postmarked by tonight though! We haven't had any warm Texas February weather at all yet which means we are due for some on Feb 26th & 27th. Watch and see......

PRE-entry deadline was extended!

Today, February 21st is the PRE-entry deadline for on-line entries. Go here: http://www.DarinShort.com/world.html and enter on-line NOW!!

Worried about weather? Don't blame you after last year but don't be this year. We're going to get the precipitation out of here Tuesday night. They'll be 2 clear days to work the track and then the temps for Friday and Saturday's racing action get back to normal for late February in Texas which if you throw in last year's wind chill factor, it's going to feel about 30 to 40 degrees warmer this year! Might as well PRE-enter today and save a few $$$!

Law of averages is with us too. What do I mean? We already have had more precip this month than we average for February in Fort Worth and we have not had ONE day with an above average Hi temp yet this month. So....the law of averages says it will be warmer and dry this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway and the forecast is starting to reflect that idea too!!!

We have some northern invader 'snowbirds' already here in Texas that will be competing at TMS. After racing the Texas Winter Nationals in Houston this past weekend, some racers like Kelly Shryock, Zack VanderBeek, Mike Hansen, Darrell Nelson and others are spending the week here as they aim for the $3000 top prize on Saturday night. Defending Texas World Dirt Track Championship winner Terry Phillips was also in Houston but went O-for-3 in wins. His teammate Jeremy Payne got a $3000 win and a second in Houston and Terry did have a second. Jason Hughes won the $5000 finale in Houston and had a 2nd while Shryock already has a $2000 win on his southern trip. Texans Howard Willis, John Whittington and Morgan Bagley are just 3 of a whole bunch of proud home-staters who will be there trying to keep all those invaders out of victory lane in Fort Worth!!!

OK....now the weather watch begins.

Where is all this global warming I've heard about for 10 years? Oh that's right....the world's smartest man -- that would be our president -- explained the other day that it's really not just warm weather caused by global warming but blizzards and whole month of below average temperatures are a result of global warming too. That way they can blame any hurricane, tornado, record snow, hail, blizzards, droughts and floods on you and I driving our SUVs, pick-up trucks and racecars don't you know.

Well, I still have to believe the odds are in our favor this time and this place will warm up better than predicted by this weekend.

By the way, the last time anyone saw Al Gore, he was swimming like he-- trying to get away from a drowning polar bear. I'm pulling for the bear...

Well, it's not all we wanted weather-wise but....

Saturday's Hi 54 Lo 38 with....and here's the good part...east wind less than 5mph! About 30 mph less than last year. Should still feel about 30 degrees warmer than last year!

It's still a go!

We made it to Wednesday and while the forecast still doesn't have us above normal temperatures this weekend, Saturday's going to feel a whole lot better than it did last year. Got a little rain predicted for early Friday morning but they are able to work the track today so all that should do is help water it some for Friday night and Saturday and make for some good racing! No rain between now through Thursday's practice. Probably see some sprinkles on the way home Thursday night, then it all moves out by Friday morning and we should have clear nights on both Friday and Saturday. All of that is according to weather.com.

Saturday's high is 57 and the low Sat night headed for 38 by morning but we should stay no colder than the mid-40s during race time but here's the good part: STILL NO WIND CHILL! Winds predicted to be less than 5mph.

That'll work!

It's dry at Texas Motor Speedway this morning and the highest rain chances today are from 2 to 4 PM and it's just 30%. After that, 20% or less, all according to weather.com.

Saturday the forecast is GREAT! 0% chance of rain and the race time temperatures stay around 50 with CALM winds. We are in for an outstanding Texas World Dirt Track Championship this weekend!!!
