Please keep in mind that ORA stands for "Oklahoma Racing Association" and not "Oklahoma City Racing Association". Everyone across the state is welcome and encouraged to join. You don't have to be a Car Owner, Driver, or Pitman/Pitwoman to join.

This old business of what can the ORA do for "Me" and "Mine" has to stop. It is a group effort with everyone involved and everyone headed in the same direction.

The ORA can not do anything for you if you are not a member.

It's kinda like going to the Church Social where Homer says "Man, Elmer them beans is awful salty.....but thats the way I like'em". Bottom line is Homer did not want to get stuck with cooking the beans for the next Church function.

Everyone needs to pitch in and do their part to make the ORA become what it should be. Don't be like Homer, and sit back and bitch about Elmer for his participation or what decisions or votes where made while you did not attend.

an open letter to the ora, lanny edwards, and fans of the oklahoma state fairgrounds speedway( or whatever you call it these days).

i slipped into the meeting last night with you all, i have no connections that i wish to pull in order to help you. i only wish to speak to you all here. some of you know who i am,Please keep it to yourself. but i am a fan and part of my raising was in this city. i am not a politician of any sort, but yes i could be if i pursued it. count on it.

here are a few things the current fathers of this city wish you to do in order to help kill the beloved grandstands.

1.fight each other!

stand up and defend everything you want for yourself! fight over so called mini clutches, quickie changes, tires, carburators, procedures etc. your tax dollars will help pay for the demolition of your beloved grandstands, and your fighting will burn time, 2 years worth IF you have the stamina.

should you wear down and unite , as ONE, fight lanny edwards and let time continue to burn.

should you get lanny to unite with you, fight the city! burn more time. by the end, january 1st 2012 will be upon you and you all will go out with a whimper.

2. lanny edwards---fight back with all the resources you have, let them know you are the main quarterback of this deal. you will still have your other tracks, shows, and fortunes you have earned over the years.

lanny, fight the people who love the speedway like you used to.

time will continue to burn, and you can all argue over who was right in the end. meanwhile, up on city hall, there will be a nice little cocktail party to celebrate the death of a giant, THE OKLAHOMA STATE FAIRGROUNDS GRANDSTANDS.

3. convince yourselves that saving the speedway is impossible. swallow it whole, and cower away defeated like the little people you are.

spread it like wildfire, brainwash the masses--TELL THEM WHAT TO THINK!

do not tell them what they can do, as one, rather help to defeat the 'desire' to preserve their legacy.

being the troublemaker i am, i am deliciously savoring the idea of a few, shall we say, notions of what you might, just might consider.

A. recruit as many fans and racers as you can, $25 a pop, loan them the money if you can. IF ANY OF YOU CARE ABOUT THE SPEEDWAY, JOIN UP!

B. ask that a good portion of that money go towards either the point fund and/or nightly purse,--

but only to ora members in good standing.

C. to the ORA- do not fight the promoter, rather fight the urge to be 'divided'.

set up a second TECH TEAM, voted in by all the members, and have the official ORA tech inspections offsite if necessary. work it, streamline it, put in the extra time to make it happen.

Make peace, police yourselves, and earn the confidence of your members. stand with the truth stronger than with your buddies. this is about the life you stand for.

D. work on bringing the older fans back in. find out what they like, what entertains them, and do it. building the headcount in the stands, will build constituency for you, and power to save the track.

Here some of my thoughts! Two tere memberships why charge fans $25 when they recieve no money at the year end? Charge fan membership $10 or less, afterall we're looking for numbers.

True all members can vote for officers but each Driver and Owner vote for specific items pretaining to their class or as a whole for issue that pretain to all.

Have 4 mandatory voting meetings for Drivers and Owners that all have to attend or no awards. There are serious issues that have to be resolved and all must attend to insure an acurate representation of what the assoc wants. People seem to make 20 races without missing, you should be able to make 4 Wed. nite meetings.

Work with Lanny on issues {tech, safty, rules, promotions} but be careful on any type of boycot or walkout. Thats the last thing that anyone wants and should only be used for "Extreme" measures.

There are alot of issues that should not be aired on a public forum that should only be considered in a proper setting at the meetings so be careful what you post.

Whatever time we have left with our speedway savor every minute and try to make it as positive as it can be. This will only help the enjoyment of the time we have left as well as help promote any type of new facility that may be in our future if any.

The fact is that the Assoc. needs a face lift or membership and representation wouldnt be this low. "It is now time for all good Fans and Racers to come to the aid of their Speedway"! I must of heard that somewhere.

$10 for being a fan is a lot easier for me to come by these days. I'd even buy a membership for my girlfriend at that price.
