October 23, 2009 Peoria, AZ; On behalf of Canyon Speedway Park and the inaugural Southwest Championships held November 27th & 28th, Steve Dunn has been appointed promoter of the non winged open wheel event at Canyon. "Dunn has been down quite a road and has dealt with some crazy situations in the racing community" says Doug Gabbard (Canyon Owner). "Dunn brings first hand knowledge and experience to the table to help get our first ever Southwest Championship weekend steered in the right direction," says Gabbard.

Steve Dunn was one of the previous General Managers that worked at Manzanita and at Hollywood Hills prior to these tracks closing. Gabbard goes on to say "Dunn was in a situation that was unavoidable at both of these tracks and dealt with it the best he could. He had promoted one of the best Western World shows and Copper Classic shows Manzy had seen prior to closing." Dunn has only one month to get his laundry list checked off at Canyon and looks forward to the challenge. Look for more information to follow soon! www.canyonspeedwaypark.com
