Meyer into the lead over as Sexton powers out of the high line out of turn 2 with the 2nd spot. That was nice. Goeden and Haeni with a quick fight for the 4th spot on the 2nd lap. Yellow is out on the 3rd lap after Hunt spins in turn 2 while Miller spins in turn 4. Both restart. Bartz takes the 2nd spot for good out of turn 4 on the restart. Yellow is back out on the 4th lap after Miller spins to a stall in turn 2. Penalty served pit side. Sexton gave Bartz a brief challenge in the closing laps. But c’mon, if Bartz can hold off Schatz in a Heat Race at Knoxville-nobody scares him here.

Gleason in his season debut, makes the veteran move and takes the start from the tail. Stacked on paper, but with six transfers, only a huge miscue will send a Feature winner favorite to the B. Reinke with the lead over Hepfner, Balog, Kertscher and Biertzer. Single-file by the 3rd lap, as Gleason ducks to the infield. Schroeder is lapped by the 7th.

Rookie class 2009 is gaining valuable laps tonight, all are in this deal. Modjeski leads Daun, Kristan, Hunt, Mock, Schroeder and Alden with a great move on the opening lap to pass five cars. By the 4th lap, Alden takes the 5th spot out of turn 2. Borland takes the transfer spot from a fading Mock on the 5th lap. Thone is lapped by the 6th lap as Kristan takes the 2nd spot in heavy traffic. Most of the field is running together with the Top-4 intermixed in traffic and it would end like that.

Billy Balog wins his 7th career IRA A Feature.

Lap leaders: Mike Kertscher 1-11; Billy Balog 12-25.

Kertscher with the lead over Goeden, Biertzer, Neitzel, Young, Meyer, Sexton, Balog, Hafemann and Reinke. Kertscher catches the tail end of the field around the 5th lap. Biertzer with a great save on the 7th lap getting all but sideways off the gas losing only two spots to Neitzel and Balog in turns 1-2. Yellow is out on the 7th lap after Alden loses the handle and stalls in about the same spot. He was able to tag the tail. Kertscher leads Goeden, Neitzel (Symoens) Balog, Biertzer, Young, Sexton, Meyer, Hepfner, Reinke, Hafemann and Modjeski. Balog takes the 3rd spot out of turn 4 on the restart. Hepfner takes the 6th spot with a great move through the middle of turns 3-4. Balog into the 2nd spot on the 9th lap and takes to the low line for the lead through turns 3-4 on the 11th lap. Traffic for Balog next time around. Hepfner is up to the 4th spot on the 15th lap in heavy traffic and the 3rd spot next time around. Red is out on the 18th lap after Reinke is upside down near that cattle gate out of turn 2. He was Ok, but done in rare back-to-back DNF’s for this team. S. Uttech, Hepfner and Kristan are all in the work area with tire issues. Safety Crew scours the track for this debris causing damage. Balog (Hunt) Kertscher, Goeden, (Alden) (D. Uttech) Neitzel, Biertzer, Sexton, Meyer, Young, Modjeski and King to the restart. Yellow is soon out on the 19th lap after Hepfner slows to a stop on the backstretch. Into-and-back out of the work area again. No lapped cars separate the lead pack of Balog, Kertscher, Goeden and Neitzel for the final restart. Neitzel takes the 3rd spot using the low line through turns 1-2. Modjeski kept picking off positions and by the 20th lap is into the Top-5 down the backstretch. Hepfner clears about a dozen cars within two laps of that restart and he is back running in the Top-10. Balog nearly catches the tail end of the field onto his fourth win of the season. Balog has more than clinched his second consecutive IRA points title going into the Filskov Memorial next week. Modjeski with his career best IRA A Feature finish to-date with an amazing drive in the closing laps.
