David Smith, Jr. NCRA Press and Contingencies (405) 740-4769 NCRA Oklahoma Modifieds at Elk City Friday Night FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma - August 23, 2009 - After a long two month lay off it is back to action for the O'Reilly/NCRA Oklahoma modified division as they make their second and final appearance of the season at Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma this coming Friday night. Gene Weaver of Amarillo, Texas won the season opener at the track back in March and comes into the event as the series points leader. Moore, Oklahoma's Alan Oliva currently sits second in the point standings, 145 points out of first place while Davis, Oklahoma's Travis Penrod sits third in the point standings. Cam Case of Edmond sits fourth with Quail, Texas driver Logan Cabbell rounding out the top five. Other top series regulars expected to compete include Chris Roach (Warr Acres), Brad Worley (Elk City), Casey McClaskey (Ponca City), Thomas Tillison, Jr. (Chandler), Kerry Davis (Tuttle), Jason Hilliard (Lawton), Kyle Sweeney (Purcell), Brian Wolfe (Wewoka) and Ron Gould, Jr. (McLoud). Thus far this season, through three events, 89 different drivers have competed in at least one NCRA event with thirteen drivers having made each event. The average car count for each show 41 cars per event. The series opener at Elk City had forty cars on hand when Weaver opened the new division with the victory. Forty-two cars were on hand back in April on a Wednesday night at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma where Bryan Rowland took home the Hard Rock Hotel - Casino feature victory. Then at the series last event in mid-June, Chad Wheeler of Muskogee beat a field of 42 strong to take home his second career NCRA victory. Over forty drivers from three states are expected for this event for the first track that had committed to the new Oklahoma series in 2009. With the racing surface at its best the past three weekends for weekly shows, a competitive night not only on the track but for series points is expected. The Hard Rock Hotel-Casino feature winner will earn $1000 with $200 to all drivers making the twenty car feature finale. Gates open at 5:00 PM with racing set for 7:30 PM.
