I love sprint car racing, but there is one thing that I have begun to hate about my favorite sport.

THIS IS NOT NASCAR!!!

If you are at the Nationals on Saturday night, PLEASE remember, IF EVERYBODY SITS, EVERBODY CAN SEE!!!!!

I am tall, but I have many small children that sit near me at the Nationals, so if we want the sport to grow and replace it's fanbase of die hard sprint car fans, we need all of this younger generation to actually be able to see the race, not have his view blocked by some drunk 6 foot tall man.

So if you see people standing as the races are coming to take the green flag on Saturday night or any night at the races, TELL THEM TO SIT DOWN!!!!!!!!

Must not be a true sprint car fan in front of you. Because everybody knows you sit down durning a sprint car race. It's call respect for the other fans. I agree sit down during the race so everybody can enjoy Stevie Smith winning it all.

While I agree that while the cars are making laps sitting is appropriate...I think we can all agree that at times, standing is warranted. The sport is exciting and when exciting things start happening we have something inside of us that says "stand up and watch". And when things get exciting and dicey I may very well stand up. Possibly not even intentional but out of reaction to the excitement.

I agree completely! The only way to make this dream come true is to ask the promoters(Cappy in this case) to hand out flyers to everyone explaining the genious of "IF EVERYONE SITS, THAN EVERYONE SEES" and then the people enforce it by telling the standers to sit

If that doesn't work we MAKE EM SIT!

Totally agree, at Knoxville the announcers can repeat all night long about not smoking in the stands but never, have I heard them ask people to stay seated so others around you can see. Last week at the 360 Nationals some race fans from northern Iowa were seating in front of us rooting for about dead last place during the C and B mains, come on people one spot is not going to matter. One other way to deal with those people is save the foil wrapper from your sandwich, roll it into a nice tight ball, and go head hunting!! that will get their attention. Believie me I've seen it in action and it dose work.

This is understandable, I'm referring to those people who are standing when the field is coming off of turn four to take the green flag and continue to stand for a large part of the race.

Please people.

I can't stand you people complaining about others standing up. This ain't baseball, this is exciting autoracing you HAVE to stand up to show your respect to the drivers. They are doing this for the glory, and the glory comes from screaming, standing fans.

Plus, I usually get there or buy tix early enough to get the top row, so I can stand ALL NIGHT.

Anti baseball and supportive of children getting to miss out on their heros.... how un-American can ya get!!!!

Seriously, this is exciting sprint car racing, BUT it's not like it is hard to see the race from sitting or like your screaming is going to effect the outcome of the event. Stand during parade laps. stretch during intermissions, cheer after the race, but sit down and let everyone enjoy the action. You never know... some war-vet that gave us all the opportunity to be at the event may be sitting behind you.

I know y'all are right, I was trying to get your goats. Besides I won't be going as the bus to ship in the "Standup & Cheer During The Race/Hometown Meetings" is booked.

back in the early 90's there was a large group of us that were at all 4 nights of the races and had no problems at all untill saturday night, when the drunken idiots that just came to get drunk and say they were at knoxville showed up. now before everybody gets their panties in a bundle, i partied like a big dog all day amd all night after the races but during, i was there to to watch. now then. them good ole boys from misorori we so screwed up, they stood up for all of hot laps of the first features well i finally told them to sit their fat ass down, their liquid courge was gonna kick my ass till all of us stood up [lus some of the section across from us. the next thing ya know the cops were there and they were told if they could not stay in their seat they had one for them. we had no problems the rest of the night.

I agree: before time trials, after time trials, during the National Anthem, before the heats, after the heats, during the intermission, when standing in line to get a beer and a hotdog, after the dash, before the C-main, after the C-Main, before the B-Main, after the B-Main, during the parade lap, after the A-Main, and (unfortunately) everytime the guy in front of you chooses to disrespect everyone else they paid admission behind them and stands during the race. But, some of those behind still can't see after standing and/or don't have the ability to stand and watch the race.

By the way... the "sit and watch the race" ONLY applies if someone is behind you.... those of you on the back row, stand and cheer your a*s off!!!!

Standing is one thing, but gettin up outta your seat, to take a piss or get another beer in the middle of a race is outright idiotic. Swearing/cussin aloud, and giving the middle finger salute to show your displeasure with whats happening out on the racetrack are also unacceptable. We had some clowns show up late at a WoO race at River Cities. They decide to go searching for their seats during the dash. Made 2 rows of people get up and made our group miss the entire race. Then these bozos ask us what other races they have left tonight, whos all racin tonight, what support class they running, blah blah blah.......get a clue!!! Show up on time, be polite and respectful to your neighbors and you'll make a racin buddy for life.

the points you made is the reason why i never sit in the stands . i always buy pit passes to get away from those types of people by doing that got to meet alot of drives and crewmen .

I'm an old geezer, but I remember back at the original Devil's Bowl in Dallas (it moved to present location in early 60's) everyone was requested to stand when the cars approached the green flag. You sat back down if the race stopped for any reason, then everyone stood again when racing resumed. I don't know why they did this, but I remember it was great.....you could always see the action. Never heard of this at any other track. Looking forward to tonight on the tube. Jerry
