New SCORA Sprint Car Series

March 26, 2009 --- The 2009 season will see the birth of the SCORA Sprint Car Series. This is a steel block engines sprint car group. The SCORA stands for Sprint Car Owners Racing Association and was developed for the working class of sprint car racers.

SCORA was the idea of Sam Stockon Sr a veteran racer and the founder of the successful MSCS. He saw the need for an organized group of racers that loved to race, but were getting squeezed out due to the high cost of sprint car racing. Joe Chambers, the head of Official Push trucks , is a partner in the SCORA group and J. T. Stapp has been a big part of the scheduling.

The schedule has already grown to twenty - one races for 2009, with the opening race May 9 at Charleston Speedway, Charleston, Illinois. Clay County Speedway, Flora, Illinois has scheduled five SCORA races. Races have been scheduled in four states with the Terre Haute Action Track in on the schedule June 13. Other speedways involved are Kankakee County Speedway, Kankakee, Illinois, Kamp Motor Speedway, Boswell, Indiana, Blue Grass Speedway, Bardstown, Kentucky, Soggy Bottom Speedway, Morgantown, Kentucky, Vermilion County Speedway, Danville, Illinois, Morgan County Speedway, Jacksonville, Illinois, Chandler Speedway, Chandler, Indiana and a shared race at Eldora with MTS Series out of Michigan.

Some of the drivers already entered are Dave Peperak, Clinton, Indiana, Steve and Al Thomas, Ludlow, Illinois, Dusty Wright, Terre Haute, Indiana, Danny Williams Jr., Coatesville, Indiana, J. T. Stapp, Greensburg, Indiana, Alex Coonan, Ransom, Illinois, Ray Kenens, Battleground, Indiana, Craig Budde, Bartelso, Illinois, Adam Beliles, Martinsville, Indiana, Jake Simmons, Terre Haute, Indiana, Dave Scott, Princeton, Indiana, Joe Varvel, Rosedale, Indiana, and Jamie Frederickson, Kokomo. There have been interest received from fifty drivers.
