so we set the field at 11pm last wednesday. We have 40 teams. So what we decided on was splitting the field into 4 divisions of 10. Each team will play the other 9 teams in their division TWICE. We have 21 race nights/matchup nights before Championship Weekend in September (which is our playoffs).....Each team has 9 opponents in their division - so it will take 9 weeks/matchups to play them all once.
As you can tell, this leaves 3 weeks/matchups open. What we will do is hold those as MAKEUP dates for any rainouts/cancellations. Lets say May 8th is the furst rainouts - those matchups would be rescheduled for Week 19. Now lets say we DO NOT have any rainouts - or just have 1 or 2. Then the extra matchups will get filled interleague style by random draw.
Its wayyyy too lengthy to type the schedule on here, plus it wont fit anyways. Suffice to say that whoever you play week 1 - you will play in week 10 as well. who you play in week 5 - you will play in week 14. 2 complete round robins for each division. The only exception to that is rainouts/cancellations. The first rainout will be made up Week 19. 2nd rainout week 20. 3rd rainout week 21. kind of gives us some wiggle room - we want everyone to play all their divisional opponents twice. That way the winner of any division truly has to outperform the other teams in their division. The playoffs will be one matchup on Champ Weekend in Sept. - done exactly the same as last year. I will explain later as this is already going to be long. Also I apologize for how long these posts are - after we get a matchup or 2 down - they won't be as long.
We formed the divisions by a completely random draw this weekend. There really is no other way to do it. We didnt think it would be right or fair to handpick each division. Below are the week 1 matchups by division. You will play all 9 teams in your division 2 times.
Week 1 matchups (March 27th AND 28th) Division 1 Dream Chasers vs. Sprints Rock The Nut Sacks vs. Dirt Bandits Roundy Rounders vs. Cyal8er Just BS vs. WING-N-IT Team 77 vs. Carr Racing
Division 2 Cushion Pushers vs. High Plains Drifters Bobcats Bullets vs. Cheaters! Wing Nuts vs. Team 37 Colby's Hot Rods vs. Airflow Assassins Lil Miss Dirt Princess vs. The Cheezamps
Division 3 SFS Fan vs. Dirt Track Princesses Dirt Track Cowboys vs. Team 27 Hoss' Heroes vs. Dirt Underground Snake Chasers vs. Night Storm Racing Chunk's vs. Slingin Dirt
Division 4 Wicked Witch vs. Dirt Squared General Travis vs. Dogwater's Devastators DAN FAN vs. The Fightin' Panda's Speedyman21 vs. Team Ray Polish Shockers vs. Sonicblu12
This is the thread to enter picks for Week 1 (spring nationals) - picks for BOTH Friday and Saturday need to be posted in this thread - by 7pm Friday night. Even if friday rains out - picks for both nights still need to be in this thread - by 7pm Friday night. Friday nights show is ASCS, Champ Sprints, and Sport Mods. Saturdays show is ASCS, USA Mods, and pro stocks. For any newcomers......2 picks need to be made per class. the first pick is scored if that driver is races. If that driver is not there, we revert to your back-up pick. Picks are scored in FEATURES ONLY.
These are the matchups for Week 1 - which is BOTH friday and saturday......other thank that..... Lets kick off the 2009 season proper.
POST YOUR WEEK 1 (SPRING NATIONALS - both nights) FANTASY PICKS - HERE IN THIS THREAD. by friday 7pm.

Who's running sport mods this season? I just need a name or two and it don't matter who it is.
Can't make my picks without knowing who's running em. I'll pick one or both the Allen boys if they are running em. Feed back needed here people.

I'm kind of questionable on that too hard head......although I also figure many people in our league know more about this than I do....
what I know of is Cody Whitworth, Joey Buntin, Dusty Buntin........and I think Aaron Anderson but not sure. hopefully someone who knows of more can answer.
We really only need an idea for this week and then maybe the season points opener on April 10th - after those 2 races we will probably have a more consistent idea with em.

thanks skeesiks for addressing that. and Bandit as well.
A good guide to go off of for ASCS picks would be on ascsracing.com - and scroll down a bit on the front page and it shows all the drivers planning to run the full tour. It would be wise of everyone to check it out - because there are many more quality drivers runnin this than ever before. especially Paul McMahon and Shane Stewart. There are over 25 drivers aiming to run the full tour. So if anyone has any questions bout the ASCS portion of the event - check out www.ascsracing.com
Everyone remember that the other teams in your particular division - will be your opponents throughout the year. At least up until Weeks 19,20,21 where we could have possible interleague if there are less than 3 rainouts. The playoff format will be 1 big matchup on Championship Weekend where they run on friday and sunday in september. We will take all 4 #1 teams and put them against each other. Same with all the 2nd place folks, 3rd, and on down the line. Lowest point total wins of course. This gives a final finishing order to the whole league. Of course I'll do multiple posts elaborating on this later on in the season.
If anyone has questions pertaining to format, scheduling or anything - literally anything, please feel more than free to ask. I'll be happy to answer any questions. Its really great to see the turnout we have so far with 40 teams. The only hope I have for the rest of the year is that all 40 put picks in every week. Last year was very representative on how good this league and format can be if everyone plays every week. And who knows, maybe I'll get some revenge on Dogwater after losing to him in the Championship last year lol. It was a Devastating defeat
lol.

hate to be the stickler JD - but all picks for both nights have to be posted by 7pm friday. Without any editing either. It would be a mess if it was ok for all 40 teams to be editing picks on saturday - I would have no way to know if anything was changed. I know you aren;t meaning to do that. It's just if everyone did it - it would end up a scoring mess. there are a few more scenarios where it affects other things as well. Its just best in the end to do it as the original thread states.
I wont count any picks posted after 7pm on friday, and I wont count any posts edited after 7pm friday. Its best to just have everyone post all their picks for both nights - in this thread.
I gotta get to work quick, but I will be happy to answer any questions pertaining to this later in the evening when I get in.....
