Chuck Arnolds son from Weatherford has shown interest. He's got quite a few friends in the DFW area. These pictures are from the "Manifolds on Main" event they had in the DFW area last year.

The list of cars that could make the shows in our region is growing, Tulsa to Dallas/Ft. Worth, then even down to Houston.

I realize that numbers can be inflated and made to look good. However, I like to keep a realistic number in mind, still keep in mind that not all can make the show or both shows. This is what I see as the figurative number right now, representing midgets, coupes, supers, champ dirt,etc.-----------30

After the start for this hunt last fall it was at around 30 cars. But after not getting in at OkC, the count went down to about10-20. NOW the D/FW area has been showing a lot of interest, and they will be recruiting us too.

That is a cupful shaken down, the cup will get shaken down a bit more, yet there are more cars to discover. You haven't heard in most cases, but there are more out there all over the region being built everyday.

We are in that 'part of a movement' where we wake up and realize that we are in a 'movement'. Getting together on a larger scale was apparently inevitable.

KEEP THIS IN MIND-- 20 cars is a great start, anything over that is even better!

We are getting more entries everyday, keep them coming. Here is some bad news, Lloyd is in the hospital again it looks as if he will be released in a few days. Folks if you can make this show to see Mr Ruby please do so, it might be our last chance.

Thanks to everyone,

Ron

Between upgrades, worrying about this show, and reduced hours at work, I'll still been making progress. It looks like I may have a lot of krylon work to do, real paint is expensive at this moment for me. That's okay, it'll only pose for a few times before I can get it right.

Looks likes it's coming along. NOTHING wrong with power steering! If it keeps coming together, we may have our super ready for the show too!

With Lloyds passing last week, we asked ourselves if it was appropriate to continue. Most folks would reason that this was in the works before the recent circumstances, but there is a deeper issue that needs to be examined.

Keep in mind, I personally never got to spend more than 5 minutes talking to the man. You could tell EVERYBODY wanted to be around Lloyd and cater to him. That was done out of respect and love for him, yet sometimes a chance to just be "Lloyd" was a little hard to do. He was a man of few words and ALWAYS a Gentleman. And I will vouch for this as will others--He was not an attention monger.

Somewhere around the 1,000th autograph I'm sure he realized that just taking the time made others feel better. He got to liking that and kept it up. Always letting others get the spotlight, willing to re-light the fire when he was the guy that needed to do it. See and hear what I have seen and you would know that.

Before this past racers reunion down there, he had been dealing with the issues of his health for quite a while. Somewhere after the overpass dedication, his problems started to appear actually and by the time this past January rolled around he had been through quite a bit. Very shortly before the reunion he got to feeling better that he had in two years and decided he'd be alright.

Well, the reunion felt more like a family reunion of sorts, complete with cousins you never met, cousins you liked, and cousins you didn't have time for.

Lloyds presence was like that of the Grandfather you didn't fight around. You were glad he made it and he was glad you didn't make too much of a ruckus.

Close to the end of the reunion, he came out to take some pictures with a few cars we had on display. Trust me, it was cold out there! Chill to the bone kinda cold. Still, he came out and took every single picture we wanted, every single one. Quite a few very proud pictures to have were made in just 5 minutes. The one of him by my Dads old coupe made my Dad's day when he saw it. Lloyd was just doing what Lloyd did, helping one out, without arrogance or deceit.

I thought about a lot of those things on the way down to Wichita Falls. Being a bachelor, sometimes I has ta run into Wal-Mart to get a clean shirt at the last minute! I waited til I got into town and found the nearest Wally world. Got the shirt, go through checkout and ask where exactly the Lloyd Ruby funeral is being held. The checkout girl had no idea who I was talking about nor did her colleagues.........Now sometime this week they will be going over the Lloyd Ruby overpass or picking up a phone book that has his name and likeness on the cover, and never may know why those tributes were done to begin with.
