Texas cant say shit - they performed mediocre against a mediocre Ohio State team. espn wants folks to think USC has an argument - they played mediocre at several points in their season - and penn state wasnt all they were billed to be - they were just another hapless big 10 victim served up to em in the rose bowl. but they are good - so for the sake of argument we will assume they have a small argument.

the team with the biggest argument by far is Utah. they beat a team (alabama) that damn near knocked off the best team in the land (florida) - but many of the powers to be over the airwaves would rather you talk USC or Texas - because under the current system it is next to impossible that a non BCS conference team will ever play in the BCS title game. everything with Utah right now SCREAMS PLAYOFF.

as for tonight. the coaches lost the game. Bradford played very well - WHEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY. the play calling was terrible. both turnovers were tipped passes (sort of) by the receivers. so aside from those 2 turnovers - here are the 3 key misses opportunities that OU coached choked on. in order as well.

#1 - 3rd and goal at the 1. run it - not the worst call. but when ya dont get it - in a game of this magnatude you take the funkin points. everyone i watched the game with screamed Go For IT!!! my how they whisteled a different tune later in the game. so anyway - shoulda kicked a field goal - or at least put the ball in your Heisman Trophy Winner's hands.

#2 3rd down at the 6. 10 seconds left. guess Kevin Wilson's dumbass forgot he still had a timeout. maybe Bradford did too. this was the perfect time for a low risk play. not a run up the middle - but maybe something like the shovel pass they kicked our ass with all night. or some sort of Wide Receiver screen. if you dont get the 1st - you call timeout - 2-3 seconds left and kick the chip shot field goal to take a halftime lead. as it was - at halftime OU had the ball inside the 5 yard line twice and got 0 points out of it. this blame ends up only 1 place - Kevin Wilson.

#3. OU - very retardedly - has to call a timeout in a freakin punting situation. thats bad. but ok - iron out the kinks. coming off the timeout - they get a false start - thats pathetic. Florida turns around and 1 ups ou and has to call a timeout - then runs into our kicker. OU got given a golden gift there - what does Kevin Wilson do? 2 mediocre run plays - ending up in a predictable 3rd and 10 passing down. of course we didnt get it. we punt it - they march down the field and score.

kevin wilson flat out laid an egg in this game. it doesnt take a genius to see it. i'm no one to comment on the rest of the plays - but those 3 situations are just obvious chokes imo. the importance of the first 2 I listed? well - they prob lost the game. 3 pts. in either situation and OU is driving down the field with 3 min. left to tie the game - not to score and kick an onside kick. maybe we wouldnt have got it anyways. but i really believe those 3 mistakes cost them the game. and of course the 2 turnovers. but the florida TD coming off our inability to even pick up a yard after they gifted us another set of downs - this seemed to set the tone the rest of the 2nd half.

so i think the obvious loser tonight was Kevin Wilson. cant get too down on him. he led the sooner offense to yet another Big 12 title. and that is ANY teams first goal in a season - win your conference.

interesting enough. who was the winner from OU tonight? Brent Venables. Florida had 7 pts. midway through the 3rd quarter. they kept the game within distance the entire night. sure they gave up some big plays. us forcing them into 3rd and long and giving it up more times than not prob drove half the state mad. but face it. he did his job and had a less than stellar defense - ready to play. they made big plays. and were the only thing that kept us in the game. who could have guessed it would be our record shattering offense that would lay the egg? i mean that more on the offensive coaches than the players. bradford did not play bad. both picks were as much or more the receivers fault. brown played well. the line opened up some holes. Gresham played well. the coaches seemed to hold them back at every turn. the coaches allowed themselves to be taken OUT of their own game. changing up how they did things. no suprise it didnt work. but it is suprising that the defense everyone worried so much about played well enough to keep us in the game. they played well for 55 minutes - and thats A+ comin from our defense this year lol.

i will swear one thing though. if the constant and funkin unbearable propaganda machine that existed this year - exists next year. than screw college football. it was pathetic the propaganda dished out against OU - or FOR Tebow or Texas. musberger. herbstreit. ESPN. CBS. ABC. it didnt matter. on and on it went. and it really ruined it for me this year. it aint just being an OU fan. it could have been another team and i would feel the same way (granted maybe not as much) - hell it has been that way before. with the USC infatuation (probably the only reason they are not penalized for the many infractions their program has committed). many things are coming together to absolutely ruin college football. maybe it wont ruin it - no matter how high he bullshit piles up - folks will still watch it.

so now i am absolutely freakin thrilled that the end of the college football season is behind us. it means the chili bowl is hours away (hell yeah!) - but it also means time for conference play in college basketball. not much politicking in college basketball - no one is going to campaign for bubble teams who went 19-12 LOL. and college football should take note of that. there will still be controversy. but with a 16 team playoff. no one will cry about some 9-3 team who gets snubbed - because that team had 3 chances to help themselves. 16 teams. take ALL 12 conference winners and 4 at large bids. but anyway. college basketball is truly upon is now. every night too. i love that. great games without all the BULLSHIT!

oh and did i mention the Chili Bowl is literally only hours away?!?!?!?!?

by the way - before the Chili Bowl opens up with a high pitched roar tuesday night...... how bout another edition of the Red River Rivalry Monday night - as our pretty darn good OU MENS basketball team takes on a pretty damn good Texas Longhorns team in a game sure to have implications on the Big 12 title lol......wow imagine that. a red river rivalry with Big 12 title implications......hmmmm........how bout that.......

Go Sooners!!!!!!!

Well i gotta agree with almost all of what you say here Cody. I was saying to put the ball in the hands of the QB also. What a boneheaded deal there for Wilson. But Stoops went with it to. Let em argue the facts about the BS BCS. The two best teams were in it last night. JMO

Now as for next year, You'll be watching and saying the same things all over again about the bs. You know it and so does everyone else.

Congrats to all the teams this season except the Irish. They didn't deserve a Hawaii team served up to em. Sad but true. JMO

Nope, on the both goal line situations, a play action pass. Fake the ball to Brown on the left side then hit Grisham (sp) with the open space down the right side. Once again conservative play calling in bowl games.

Bottom line, Florida capitalized on OU's mistakes and OU could not on Florida's. But even though we got on the wrong end on this one it was still a great game.

Now to leave ESPN off my viewing sites for a couple of weeks.

You know I read on something that Tom Osborn lost 7 bowl games then won 3 titles. What Bob Stoops has done for the Sooners I would'nt trade him for any other coach. But next year might be a little crazy with all the players that are leaving. Sure hope Bradford stays but I bet he wont.

Mack Brown can laugh all he wants. Was he playing in the last game of the season? I agree that coaching lost this game, but I still believe Stoops is one heck of a coach. I can think of 200 other coaches that would love to play in as many BCS games, or National Championship games as Stoops has with Oklahoma.

I heard that on the 4th and goal play before haltime, that they didnt even call a play, but rather told them if they didnt get it in on third down, then to run a quick snap and run the ball in. That would explain the offensive line blocking to the right, while we run the ball to the left with no blocking. Why not slow down and get a good play in?

The pass that got bounced around several times before being intercepted. I agree that it wasn't Bradford's fault that it was intercepted, but why was he throwing to a receiver that was triple teamed in the first place. Somebody must have been wide freakin open somewhere.

Also, dont forget the attempted 49 yard field goal that was blocked. Can sombody please explain why we attempt a field goal there. We know we don't have a kicker that can make it. If we are going to give them the ball at that spot, why not go for the first down at least. Either go for it, or a quick pooch punt and try to pin them deep.

Of course, I am sitting in a La-z-boy, drinking a brewsky and have all kinds of time to think about what we should have done. If I were on the field with thousands of screaming fans, and had 5 seconds to figure out what to do, while also thinking in my head about what the next 3 plays will be, I am sure I could come up with the perfect play every time. NOT.

As long as the Sooners keep going to BCS games is fine with me. I'll take all the Big 12 titles they can get. Hey if they can throw in a National title or two great.

As for the game the other night. Why wasn't the first touchdown for the Gators reviewed? I understand that the ball broke the plain of the goal and that the ground can't cause a fumble......but when your butt is on the ground and you lean back over the goal line, I thought your were down. If your allowed to reach after contact, then Brown should have scored on 3rd and goal when he ended up in the endzone but called down because his knee hit at the half yard line. The play calling was suspect on both red zone turn aways. I'd rather seen play action on 4th and goal and on the interception at the goal line, Bradford had Iglesis one on one. On the other pick that Bradford threw, that's a ball that Iglesis catches most of the time. On the field goal, just a really bad decision. Looked like the guy blocked it to keep from getting hit in the head. LOL

Anyway, that's why were all fans of the teams or individuals that we admire and cheer for. We don't always agree with the way things go.......but we love them anyway.

There's always next year!!!!!

OSU fans will never have the chance to hurt the way we do this week.Somehow that is comforting ,just the same way they take joy in us getting denied or 8th!

Being an OSU fan I will give it up to Ou for playing a good game and the game was what a MNC game should be.

To call out OSU fans like that is a bit classless. We have had hurt in sports but yet it is not football. Although most OU fans claim the only sport that matters is football and from the sounds of some on this very thread it sounds as if it is true. Not to call a regular poster on this board out but he even said that he would have his son go play baseball for Anderson before he would Galloway in a past post.

Just think before you post is all I can say. Rather you like or not there are OSU fans that are involled in racing and we consider every sport just as important as the rest.
