David, thanks for posting the photo for me. The photo was taken at Enid Speedway (1972) before it,s preliminary run.
This is the original Hill / Moery Special. It is the same car that D.E. Suggs (#11) drove through the fence at Fairgrounds Speedway essentially cutting the car in half. The car was built in 1972 by Carroll Nance for Larry Hill, and Otto Moery (pronounced Murray). Laverne Nance was less than pleased (plum pissed off) about the amount of time Carroll spent on the build as the car was custom fit for Hill, and Moery's 6'-3" driver Steve Foster.
The car never had a nose piece from day one, but for unknown reasons always ran hot with the Jerry Soderburg built power plant. (something JD can relate too) An old Ford hub cap found laying around Soderburgs shop in Enid (Ira's Speed Shop) was used to hold down the two air filters.
The day the above photo was taken Foster Hot Lapped and ran the Heat in the #9 then parked it because of overheating. Foster then jumped in the #50 car of Charlie Lavickie and won the A feature.
Otto Moery was a dirt contractor from Hennessey, Ok. and we all know about Larry Hill.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this super the one that was sold after the 1974 season to the Avant Brothers in Loveland, Oklahoma. The Avant's ran this car during the 1975-1976 seasons before they bought a new Nance 4 bar super. Johnny Stinnett was their driver. Interesting fact is that Johnny's son Kelly was a Major League Baseball player. Wasn't "Bo" Chambers a pit crew member when Hill owned this car too? What ever became of Steve Foster?

Mike, I'll get back to you on the fate of the car. I do know that Jimmy Harkness out of Kansas also drove the car.
Steve Foster lives in Bixby, Ok. and owns and operates Energy Savers of Oklahoma. Steve, (Dad) attends as many city races (SFS) and ASCS races that he can fit into his busy schedule. He still, as all former racers, wants to get back in the seat and out on the track. The thing about that is, Mom has the stronger hand in this argument.
He did however set fast time at the Pole Position in Vegas this past November. Not bad for an old fart. I think there was some moving (booting) going on. But hey, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
