It looks like the push and shove between USAC and Naylor about qualifying puts the Wagsdash at Ventura out on the street.

There may have been other issues concerning costs, but it looks like this was the final push over the cliff.

We have enjoyed this event for many years and sure hope Ken and his many merry men and women find a home for this outstanding event.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Claude

Victorville ,Victorville,Victorville........invitational on an off USAC night....it was always for the owners /drivers,they would come to compete for the prestigious title of Wag's dash winner 2009,plus the track would benifit from a ledendary event such as the Wag's.

Naylor wanted USAC and now we all get to deal to deal with the disadvantages of having them around. Should of never bothered messing up a system that wasn't broken to begin with!

You hit the nail on the head race88, Victorville would be perfect, and a lot closer for Ken and Mrs Wags since they live in Vegas.

Kevin, I'm "courrious" too, and have always wondered about that whole situation, I'm very interested in just what you think might have made Naylor agree to run USAC.

I guess enough water has passed under the bridge to talk about it publicly. Here's my understanding of how it all went down. Mr Naylor allegedly was not happy with Mr Shuman over various things that transpired with SCRA. Allegedly the Kazarians were also unhappy at this time. Around this time is when there were VRA races scheduled at Perris so Mr Naylor and the Kazarian's allegedly started to have conversations regarding their track's futures. The Promotor's Workshop in Reno came up which Mr Shuman did not attend. The non-attendance apparently upset some people and there was an alleged meeting between Mr Naylor, one or more of the Kazarians, and Rollie Helmling (then Prez of USAC). That meeting was the start of the end of SCRA.

While I am sure that this thread will now be hijacked and other things discussed, I'm sad about the Wagsdash. Assuming that Perris won't take the race back, I would tend to agree that Victorville would be the natural alternate choice. However, running the race separate from the 410's kind of takes it away from its original intent of being a race to support the low buck guys who have supported the CRA/SCRA 410 series all year long. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know they run 410's at Victorville. Personally, I would rather see the Wagsdash continue to run on the same program as the CRA races.

So where will the WAGS be? Any kind of official non-rumor word?

The official 'non rumour ' word is.............The decision will not be made till late Jan.,we all can relax, the Wag's will be bigger and better in 2009....but it takes time...

Thanks. Ventura historically adds its races to the calendar later in January. This always causes speculation and chatter anyway. This year is no exception.
