Quick update on this project.Car has been stripped down to a bare chassis ready for sandblasting and paint.Gil Johnson will be there today to gather up the fiberglass so he can make patterns (tail, top, side panels, hood and nose),all these panels are in excellent shape.Everything that needs to go to chrome will be delivered next week.It doesn't look like this car has ever been wrecked hard, the chassis doesn't have any patches or bends and the original bumpers and nerf bars are in great shape. The only change I am making will be to eliminate the power steering pump mounted on the rear end in favor of a new Shroeder manual steering.I intend to use the power glide and torque tube that came in the car and the motor is a race prepped 327 from Jegs.I hope to have this car together some time in March or April.James Skinner will be driving .

Bring a jacket, we'll be having some cars out there rain or shine.

This car was bought from Stanley Cothren of Lawton last fall. Stanley got it from someone in OkC back in the '70s, knowing it was a Walker copy. He had kept it inside all these years. He even won a few 6-cylinder features with it even though he was financially challenged to own a race car. Everything that he needed but couldn't afford to buy, was made from steel. It was and still is hard to find aluminum sheet and stock in Lawton.
Harold Lindsey along with the Hatchers, and Kuykendalls has been working hard these last few weeks to get it to this state.

Terry Hatcher, Gary Kuykendall, Jerry Hatcher, Hugh (Slim) Kuykendall. These guys have been in the background making a lot of things happen on several of the cars you see here. They gave up sweat, blood, time and sleep to get the job done. In true Texas fashion.

You're looking at a neat little piece of history here. It's one of the very first narrowed fiberglass bodies in the area with a car to go with it. It's the old AJ Little 1380, I'm thinking I heard he built this car.
Steel is workable, fiberglass is fixable, yet the old warhorse is still cool. Thanks to John Chadwell it still lives.
AJ, RIP. You did a good job on 'er Bub.

They got called "narrow bodies" because they were the only narrow bodies around. THEN all of the other bodies started coming in like Edmunds, Nance, Walker, Parson etc. We still have no idea who or where they came from other than possibly Amarillo.

Thanks to Mike Monatoboy from Lawton, this pic shows it as well. Keep those old race cars guys, it's rare that TWO cars in one old picture exist anymore.
