I have it from a very good source that the PAS will have 14 USAC/CRA shows next year. Hopefully Victorville will be added to next year's schedule.

I heard 10 shows at Perris and 3 at Ventura.
Now maybe the 14 shows include the extra nights of the Oval Nationals plus the opening night of the USAC National Show. But this is all speculation.
At one time I had heard there was going to be no CRA shows at Ventura.
It sounds like there will be a reduction of CRA races at Perris this year according to what you hear in the stands and the pits. But it's all speculation so far. One good thing is the announced 3 West Coast Nationals shows!
With fewer shows, maybe all the big stars can make all the races. Unfortunatly I just read that Tony Jones is going to retire so that is one less stud in the field.

For what it's worth, I also heard from a "horse's mouth" source that the PAS will do "10 sprint shows in '09." Too many "too thin" nights last year. Sigh. Perhaps quality will make up for some of the loss in quantity.
2009 NATIONAL SEASON OPENS ON THE WEST COASTWITH EVENTS AT PHOENIX, LAS VEGAS & PERRISUSAC’s 2009 National racing season will debut with a flair like never before, with a trio of February events unfolding at facilities in the Western United States.
The “Copper on Dirt” at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz. February 20-21 kicks off the calendar, incorporating all three National racing series, the Silver Crown, Sprints and Midgets, in addition offering points toward USAC’s 2009 CRA Sprint Car and Western Midget Car championships. The event packed in 123 total race cars last February and produced some of the finest competition of the 2008 season.
The action-packed Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Dirt Track serves as the second venue, with a Wednesday night, February 25 “doubleheader.” The National Sprints and Midgets combine for the event on the 1/2-mile dirt oval, with points also awarded to the CRA Sprint and Western Midget series.
Three nights later, Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway hosts a similar “doubleheader” for the Sprint cars and Midgets on its spectacular 1/2-mile dirt.
This marks the first time that Manzanita Speedway has hosted all three National series in a single program, while the National Sprint Cars have never competed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Dave Darland won the last National Midget race at LVMS, in 1997.
The last time Perris Auto Speedway hosted a National USAC Midget race was in 1996 when Billy Boat won the “Turkey Night Grand Prix” at the PAS.

Anyone here know the -precise- story on what Victorville has to do to their physical plant to "qualify" for USAC/CRA shows? I read something here about "fencework" a few weeks ago.

Good question. It was certainly good enough for the Faas-Gardner shows, but who knows about USAC's requirements. I hate to be the one - but I have heard rumors that the old track at Victorville is being relocated and rebuilt at a new location at the same fairgrounds. But it is only a rumor. Hope the promoter there contacts USAC for some shows. I am holding with what I heard previously about 14 races next year @ the PAS.

Also there is always Bakersfield, Tulare, Santa Maria and Hanford. I read something where the Tarlton racing family is the new promoter at Hanford. Don't know how true that is though.
