I am wanting to replicate the Jerry Gilbert #19 dirt track roadster that ran around the Kansas City area and Knoxville. Would appreciate as much detail as some of you may remember (rearend, cockpit, etc.). My dad spent many hours on this car and it was always a favorite. My dad, Ken Jackson, built and raced a B modified #42 with drivers like Ray Lee Goodwin, Dick Sutcliffe, Gordon Woolley among others. A great era! Thanks.

Thanks for the responses already. You guys are great. I have pictures from the High Plains Thunder book, the internet plus a good one from a win at Sedalia with the hood off (Gordon Woolley was the driver). I am getting as much info as I can from the pics, but would welcome anyone with additional pics (Curt Grogan?), who built cars in this era (Luther Brewer?) or drove this car (Gordon Woolley?). The rest I am getting from memory from hanging around Gilbert's garage in Lee's Summit, MO when I was a kid or seeing the car race at Olympic Speedway, Sedalia, etc. My dad passed away in 1987...only wished I had asked him more about it when he was alive.

From what I can tell, it looks like the car ran a 327 corvette engine with 97 strombergs on a weiand 4x2 offset intake manifold. I have some of the parts needed to get started, including a 1929 chevy frame, vintage aluminum sprint hubs, vintage wheels, intake manifold, etc. Should be a fun project.

I'll post Sedalia pic when I get a chance. Regards.
