ASCS top 8 redraw, like it or lame?
First, with no disrespect to anyone, I think its lame. ( jmo) and have expressed my option with ASCS officials and hope others will do so against it, or for it.
Why the hell would you want to drive your ass off to earn the front row only to be sucker punched to the 4th row by the way of a Crown Royal bag redraw ?
Now on the other hand run the bottom of the top 8 and redraw the #1 gotta love that , but do you really deserve it ?
Go back to the dash system , or top 6 or 8 to a 1 lap time trail to determine A main line up. If the redraw must remain only 4 not 8.
I've been told that other drivers don't like the dash because fear of tearing up the car, I can somewhat understand that, but still like the dash.
Also been told the fans don't like the dash, and takes up to much time, but I don't believe that. The fans are paying to see races and a dash is exciting as well as a line up system.
Once again no disrespect, just my option. What do you think?
btw Crown Royal is my drink of choice and on rare occasions leads to some senseless posts.

I agree with you 100%. Run a dash and line em up. I love a good race. I also have the same problem with the Crown Royal, only it leads to senseless and sometimes regretful happenings. Some of you reading this have witnessed my unfortunate but lucky events/ unlucky events. Depends on how you look at it I guess.

I'm with you Kevin, screw that redraw top 8, Hell you draw what luck brings you at the beginning of the night and run up front in the heat then take your spot you earned in the A , it's what you EARNED by racing the Heat, straight up!, the system now is pretty lame to me.

If you are gonna draw, run a dash but whats the point of a passing point system if your not gonna enforce it.
Not to mention that 99.9% of the races I have been to the past few years, the track is so tacky during the heats if you do accually get a chance to make a pass, you deserve to get to use the points you earned.

i think the redraw sucks too. but i also think the dashes were much worse. most would think "cool - one more race" - but they were always incredible UN-entertaining.
i still think the perfect compromise is a sprint bandit format of 2 sets of heats. its either that or qualifying. and qualifying blows. at knoxville its cool because they run it so fast and effectively - its a place set up for it well. i think the double heat format alos compensates for the dwindling car counts. paying 20 bucks for 3 heats and an A Main - is rather weak.
i know the sprint bandit format means more laps on the motor, tires, and more fuel. but if ascs indeed raises their purses like they say they are - that goes some ways in equaling it out. folks should start seeing what they are paying for. i think there is a reason so many tracks cancel their ascs national tour dates EVERY YEAR. i think it comes down to - are folks paying 20 bucks because thats how good the racing is they are seeing - or are they paying 20 bucks just to see the sight of the 9 and 41.
i'm fine with paying 20. just give me 20's worth of racing. ascs is great series tho - i;m sure they will get the kinks worked out...

Just run a bunch of hot laps and draw for the money.
A special event should be all about the fastest boys up front. Weekly shows are for the point average handicappers, like bowling or golf. Thats JMO

Hate the Redraw. I say bring back the Trophy Dash, or at least the Trophy GIRLS, and give points for the Heat.
