I just returned from Mercy Hospital here in des moines. My Dad and I got the call this morning from the family that Fred went in last night, they fear he may of suffered from a small stroke. We got down there today and they where running test but he appeard aware and was moving at all corners, speaking and actually was pretty damn persistant of wanting to get out of the damn hospital and goin home which is always a good sign. I hope you all take a moment and say a little prayer for Freddie. Ya know I think about it hell ive always known fred as a friend and a hell of a worker, Fred was part of what you would consider the other big 3 of Himself, Bob Trostle and of course Lenard McCarl these guys have been around for a long time and owned, built, and turned the wrenches on many a car for many a young and legendary drivers, Many stories about racing in the midwest usually traced back to these guys. Fred also in fact just this year built and fabricated a pretty bad ass frame for my 29 Model A project which we dubbed it a Sprint Rod, somethin that nobody has built yet and sure to make the street rod guys and sprint car guys scratch there heads. its a morph of sprint car/ street rod. Freddie had it bent, cut and mocked up in about 2 months which was just absolutely amazing of just how sharp he really is. I wish him a full recovery and cant wait to see him out fabricating in his shop. This race season has been pretty rough one with the bad crashes, losses, and illnesses. I wish all of them my thoughts and prayers.
