besides the payout whats the difference between nascar drivers and Sprint car drivers..this is in reference to the amout of drivers that retire at the peak of their career. for instance Sprint car drivers that have just up and retired.. Andy Hillenburg,Mark Kinser, Dustin Lindquist,Lance Blevins just to name a few of good drivers that just decided to call it quits..why is that you don't see carl edwards, Kyle Busch retireing early

A great sprint car driver in the prime of his career can barely make a good enough living to travel that much even if he is on a 50 or 60% deal.
A cup has been can make millions a year running 37th every week and co hosting one of the thousands of NASCRAP talk shows.
.."besides the difference in payouts"????? Everything is ALWAYS about the money it seems.

You get your ass kicked in a sprint car. Nascar, you're out for a Sunday drive - pansies!!! Also, you've got to have balls to drive a sprint car. Something most Nascar pansies don't have!!

Back in the 50s and 60s, most NASCAR drivers quit by age 35. The cars were much harder to drive, more dangerous than even sprint cars today and the money was nothing compared to now. Some drivers, like Ralph Earnhardt, didn't even want to mess with Cup. In his heyday he could race locally 4 nights a week and sleep in his own bed every night for pretty much the same money. In those days the good rides were scarce and many good drivers simply didn't want to be there just for the sake of being there.
Given the pressures nowadays and the constant sponsor appearances, the people who start in their early 20s may start bailing out early just from burnout.
Harry Gant was a physical specimen who probably could have driven until he was 70, but he quit at 54 because he was sick of the constant sponsor BS. (He was 39 years old his rookie year.)

We have a few Sprint cars drivers here in Pa over the age of 55. Keith Kauffman 410's Smokie Snellbaker Super Sportsman (sprint car with carb. 350 and no front wing/w narrow top wing.) in his 70's or pretty close to it, and Cowboy Jim Kennedy 305 racer over 75 and they can still win.

I don't really think that Mark was in his "prime" when he retired, and I'm pretty sure that Hillenburg was way past his too, if he even had one. Mark retired to be with his son, it's as simple as that. And yes, the payout is way way less in sprint cars than it is nascar, plus the traveling is pretty extreme.
