let me elaborate.... it rained for about 30 mins....then the sun came out.....my wife sent me a link to the doppler on my treo so i could see the radar and it was clear behind the storm..... it was also clear to everyone who was in attendance that the track cancelled because of lack of attendance with no effort to even try and run the show.... at least they gave us our cash back....after they ran out of money several times.....every so often someone would come up with a bag of money to continue doling it out. that being said, i was really looking forward to seeing them run on that track but don't think i ever will go back......i mean i even got a room for sunday night and everything........and have you ever been to bedford.......there ain't SQUAT to do there...........bring back Big Diamond. PLEASE!

Just curious....

Have you ever promoted a race and risked a rainout? The promoter obviously decided that, with the rain limiting his potential crowd and the amount of work and time necessary to rework the track following the rain, that it was a better decision to disappoint a few rather than take a financial beating.

Was it the right decision? In your eyes, no.

But in his eyes, it probably was.... and so what if Bedford is a little quiet? It's not exactly Broadway....

At least you got a refund...you're just out the gas......would you rather have a rain check, so you have to go back to Bedford?

You should have got out your check book and offered to financially back the show. Maybe you would have made some money from your investment. Worst case senario, you would have seen a race. Just a thought.

are you peop le forgetting about the back gate.......there were already cars in the pits.....don't they pay to get in....at what $25-30 a pop...plus there were about a 500 people there.....so i think the purse was covered....just disapointed most that they NEVER attempted to even try.....i have been to alot of other tracks where they tried to get it in....those tracks i go back to all the time.....but to cancel cuz you didn't make enough money.....not that they LOST any money..... but werent gonna MAKE ENOUGH money........and as far the refund.......i spent more on the gas and the hotel to stay over for the rain date then the stinkin ticket......all this proves is that if there is any chance of rain...even 10% chance i will not drive to Bedford.

OK, so the track doesn't have any expenses... no insurance, no employee costs(refreshment stands, ticket sellers/takers, track workers), no costs to operate maintenance equipment. Trucks, grader, water truck, etc....

Like Raceway said, pull out your checkbook and cover all of those expenses, too. You may be out a few hundred for gas, hotel, and meals.....What do you think that the promoter spent in his attempt to provide entertainment for you? Wanna bet it's more than a few hundred?
