Josett finished eighth in the 20-lapper, while third-ranking driver Scott Pierovich encountered problems during his heat race and did not start the feature.
Viktor Sinzig posted the fastest qualifying time.

This will be a fantastic all open wheel night of racing at Santa Maria with Bandit Series sprint cars and T.Q.'s on the ticket joining the Western Midgets. That is going to b a great night!
Some smart midget owner should check on strapping in a Bandit driver and perhaps a sprint car owner should give a midget guy the nod. It would be interesting and fun wouldn't it???

I predict a new track record for midgets. I heard the new clay is fast. I will be there with bells on.

You are probably right, most track records there are more than 4 years old. They are due to fall.
The Bandit record is 13.354 set by Danny "Showtime" Sheridan on September 11, 2004...
The current midget record is 13.465 set August of 2004 by Danny Stratton. Looking at the record book.... it's faster than the winged midget record of 13.711 set by Johnny Cofer ( the former fourty-whiner) back in 1992
Jimmy May has the T.Q record of 14.820 set by Jimmy May in April of 2004.

I think that is close but I will go with 18. We had 20 at Ventura when BCRA was off last time. I guess we will find out. Hope to see everyone there.

I'm going out on a limb and predicting 24. I think the word is out that Santa Maria is smooth, consistent and FAST this year. Some old iron might get dusted off and show up with one of these hot teenagers with his hair on fire.
