No, they're not going to race Late Models like they do at Talladega Short Track every January.  It ain't near that bad but it ain't good news in the short term either...

First,

Man was there some terrific racing at the Chili Bowl last night!!! (as we've come to expect)

Now the bad news,

It's supposed to start freezing rain at 4PM today and last until dawn SUNDAY Morning.  1/2 inch to 1 inch of ice expected.

The only hope tonight is that the ground takes a loooong time to freeze.  No problem getting to the expo tonight but lookout coming home!  Easy on the suds boys and be ready for it a 10:30 tonight.

Tomorrow, pray!  We need all the rock salt in five states delivered to all routes leading to and from the Tulsa Expo Hall!

This Louisiana boy is heading home and I hate that but I know what my ice-driving skills are like.  I'd rather try 6 inches of snow but I ain't ready for either.  Them Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin folk would be OK with snow but nobody can drive on ice!

Guess the only thing I can do Saturday night now is watch the Saints break my heart again....

Tulsa Oklahoma uses salt packets from the local McDonalds to salt their streets.

The city also has one snow shovel for the community to share.

Stay inside and you will be ok, as the city comes to a halt except the Expo Center when the weather turns bad.

I just talked to my parents, they are filling up on gas today (in case the stations lose power) and getting some essential groceries and a log or two for the fireplace in their hotel room. My aunt and uncle from North Dakota are considering leaving now because they have a miserable trip home. My parents just have to get back to Illinois, so they aren't in as big of a rush.

I would hate to have to drive a race hauler in this mess.

The CNN.com and Weather Channel stories about this storm are not very comforting!

Safe, warm wishes to all in Tulsa right now.
