Minneapolis is about 20 minutes north of Salina on I-135. It's a semi-banked 3/8 mile red clay oval. The track surface was great all evening for all of the classes, a high groove and a bottom groove, but for some reason all of the Midgets dived to the bottom when the high side was actually fastest all nite. One driver, Joe Cleveland, took the highside late in the feature and started making ground on the leaders. It's his hometrack so I guess he knew where to go, nobody else did. Support classes were IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Mosquitos (4 cylinder front wheel drive). 132 cars total. Here's the website with some more info: www.minneapolisraceway.com

He may not have won, but at least he showed everyone he had a pair instead of trying to ram the leader out of the way like some others did. Never understood how a guy can follow someone for 20 laps in the same groove and expect to pass him without moving him.

Sometimes you have to do that to stay up front and make a little more money! Also tend to save on your tire bill by staying in the moisture instead of blowing the tires off the car running through the slick!

Understandable. As I racer myself I know plenty about tire bills. Lets be realistic though, of the 14 or so cars you guys had there, there was maybe 5 of you actually racing for the win. Assuming this is Cody Brewer, you as well as Beason (sp?) both looked fast enough to at least make a move on the leader. Beason tried his darndest to pressure the leader into making a mistake and you put yourself in a position to capatalize on a spot when they got together after numerous times. However, after the 3rd or 4th time or so that the front 2 got together you never once tried to sneak around the outside when they had lost all momentum down the backstretch, just followed in behind them. It was quite possibly one of the most boring races I have ever witnessed. If you don't try to put on a show for the crowd, you won't have to worry about that tire bill because there won't be too many tracks rescheduling with such a low car count and no exciting racing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult you personally or the series I just think if you're not racing to win then what exactly are you racing for?

Maybe money to get home? I'm sure 2nd pays more than last. I know anyone on here would take 2nd over crashing any day. He probably felt he didn't have the speed or the set-up to go outside for the lead.
