MAYBE ALLOW THE 108 INCH WHEELBASE CARS TO RUN? WE RAN 3RD SAT NITE, AND WAS DQ'D. NOW I UNDERSTAND RULES ARE RULES, SO BE IT. THE OFFICIALS ARE RUDE, AND I HOPE THEY ENJOYED THE DIRT I THREW AT THEM AFTER TECH. 2 CARS GONE LAST WEEK DUE TO SHORT WHEELBASE, THEN US THIS WEEK. I HOPE LAWTON AND THE LANNY EDWARDS CIRCUS ENJOYS THEIR 8 CARS A NIGHT POINTS BATTLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE FS CLASS. I THINK IF SCOTTY DURANT AND GENE BRYCE DON'T GET OUT THERE AND RACE REGULARLY, TRAVIS BRAGG IS YOUR POINTS CHAMPION AS OF "NOW". HE ALREADY HAS 3 OF 3 FEATURE WINS.
BRING IN THE 108 INCH WHEELBASE LANNY, YOU'LL HAVE AT LEAST 3 MORE CARS THERE IN THE FS CLASS.
PRETTY SAD WHEN YOU LIVE 20 MINUTES FROM THE TRACK BUT CAN'T RACE WITH 7 OTHER CARS A WEEK.

Why not ask the drivers in the FS Class if they mind 108 inch wheel base cars racing with them. I mean I obviously don't have an advantage with mine. Ask the other 8 drivers that race weekly if they would mind. If your scared of the 108 Camaros and Firebirds, adopt Enids rule, Minimum wheelbase 108, NO CAMAROS OR FIREBIRDS. I'm just trying to save some fuel expense. I'm right in Lawtons backyard, 20 mins away. My car is within the 30 year rule, just 4 inches short, (Which is not an advantage) I like racing at Lawton, I have fun, I'm learning, and I'd love to see the FS car count grow. I'm not wanting a straight NO, I'd like some time taken to consider allowing the 108 inch wheel base. I mean we have 13 cars a week if we're lucky, and under 10 starting the feature. Please consider it, I'd love to be there this weekend. I know a few drivers from the surrounding area, and even 4 1/2 hours away, that have considered running Lawton, but can't due to the wheelbase rule. I bring in 8 to 10 families a night through the grandstands gate, plus my family. they all spend money at the concession, and I urge more people to come out and watch. I want to help the track, but can't if not allowed to race. My point is, 8 cars in the feature every Saturday night, what is bringing back the DQ'd 108's from the past 2 weeks, plus more from the surrounding area going to hurt?
Better car count, better racing, more fans. Please consider it. If anything, ask the drivers of the FS class if they'd mind a 108 inch wheelbase car. I mean it's no fun outrunning 8 cars a weekend, ask Travis. Thanks for your time.

I havent been in the mod scene for very long , but one thing I would like to see is let everyone groove their tires . Its not really an advantage if you allow everyone to do it , And it's a cost effective measure . Those tires have all kinds of life underneath them and lanny's tracks are the only ones that dont allow it .....
winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

Elk City is too far to pull with gas being so high. It really isn't worth the money off they are giving to pull all the way from Lawton to race. Even with Ardmore being 1 1/2 hour away, its still high in expenses to get there. Heck i'm just out to have fun and try to log in seat time, and maybe get a win or 2.

Well the Answer is in!
Last years Lawton FS driver called Lanny, and Lanny said NO 108's this year, but they would be allowed next year.
Congrats to all who have the absolute boredom in their lives to go watch 31 total cars a week, not counting the Champ Sprints!
I guess the rumors I heard are very true, Lanny makes his money at the Chili Bowl, hell with the 3 tracks he owns.

I ran a mod. last year at Lawton. It was my rookie year as many of the drivers would testify. I think Lawton is one of the greatest racing facilities there is. I have loved the track since I was a kid (30 years ago). Didn't know what went on in the pits back then. LOL I haven't run Lawton this year because a situation (which was beyond my control) arose at the end of the season. I was barred for 2 weeks. I have no problem with that what so ever. My problems is that I called up there to talk to Lanny or the director of competition. I was assured that one of them would call me back. I have yet to be called back. I want to go back. But...... O well!
Bottom line: Make drivers feel more welcome and don't play favorites!
PS: My son is driving a Mod 4 at Texoma Motor Speedway in Wichita Falls, TX. Hope to get some modifieds at the track as Ron tries to grow the race program down here.

Thanks Shawn, I talked to Mr. Gould this morning. You're right he IS a class act and welcomed us to Ardmore. Just talking to him makes me anxious to get there and race on his well Promoted Race Track. He seems to be all about the drivers and fans alike. Heck I'm wondering what the surprise is down there this weekend!
Dutchman, I don't have a problem with Lawton Speedway either and have enjoyed racing there these past 3 weekends. i won't ever understand what allowing a few more cars to help boost the car count this season would hurt. Why wait til next year? LOL

Lanny is Lanny... Try to make it his idea and it will go over fine... Do not dictate or you will be looking for another place to race!!!! The problem with the car count at Lawton is because of the inconsistent calls by ALL track officials and the Black Flag not being used. Lanny did bring Wayne Nichols back thinking that would help. It has not... The car owners, drivers and crew get tired of having to repair the car and sheetmetal every week!!!!! That is the main reason people have sold out or just quit coming to Lawton. For what it is worth!!!!

Very well put. Lanny is too old to change. Unless of course you can re-up his Canadian Prescription of VIAGRA.
