OK, if we can get an entire weekend without rain, is it worth my time and money to make the haul from Ft. Loramie to Gas City next weekend for the USAC show. It is about 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive. I haven't been there so I and kind of undecided.

I live within 20 minutes of both fremont and attica speedways and drive the 3 1/2 hrs to gas city a couple times a year for the regular weekly show, so I would say absolutely, yes. It is well worth the trip. Especially for a USAC show.

Go for it! If I was closer to Gas (and Kokomo) I'd definitely be there. From what I've heard the racing has been great there since Jiggs Thomason and crew put some new dirt on it last year. Have fun as I'm sure you will!

Make sure you go to Trejo's Gyros. It's on the west end of town. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know the track except on tape, but I sure know the National guy's and the amount of talent that will be there trying to beat "the big boys". So start getting excited now, it should be a great show.

Hell I'd drive four hours to get to Gas City - unfortunately I'm about 12 hours away now....

2 hours? Come on. I drove 5 hours to see the USAC guys at Grandview last year!

If you can stay over, I would also check out Winchester on Sunday. If you have never been, the high banks are treat even for dirt fans. The sprinters fly around that place. They also have a 100 lap super late model show which is also pretty exciting. Way better than dirt late models. Aaron Pierce has a late model ride for the race.

"Fly around " is understating about how fast and scary that place is. Parnelli once said that if he could do one thing over in his racing career, he wouldn't have ran those high banks. He never got hurt there but in retrospect it just didn't seem like a sane thing to do. LOL I remember on Thunder with a camera on the top of Jeff Gordon's cage and his head was bouncing around like a ping pong ball as he was beating the best at that time, Vogler. He was 19 and no fear of the place. That's the Jeff Gordon I like to remember.

It is for some people.
It used to be a 17 hour drive to Gas City for me, now its just over an hour.

At $3.25 a gallon my thirty mile drive is a long haul.

This will be one of the (best) shows of the spring. There is a small chance of rain, but that wont stop me. Jiggs and his crew will have it ready to race and all the USAC NON WANGERS are hungry. C-YA THERE....Stand On It !!
